TEHRAN – The 4th Transport, Logistics and Related Industries Exhibition (Logitrans Expo 2019) kicked off on Sunday morning at Imam Khomeini Mosalla.

The exhibition opened today at Imam Khomeini Mosalla, northern Tehran in the presence of Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami, and will run till December 17.

Some 312 domestic companies along with 15 foreign firms are showcasing their products in this edition of the event.

Logistics and smart transportation, energy management, and the increase of the level of transportation services in the aviation, maritime and rail sectors are among the objectives of the Logitrans Expo 2019.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Eslami said that such an exhibition is a good place for interactions, talks and evaluation of performance and painting a picture for the future plans.

He added that last year the government held several meetings with neighboring states to remove hurdles in way of transit and transportation, noting that today the country has the least problem with the neighboring states in the transit routes. He said that Iran is a member of CIS railways and by signing some bilateral agreements,  it can send cargo trains to China and even Europe. Eslami added that the transit and transport of goods at Chabahar Port has increased significantly since two years ago and since the beginning of the year, the volume of transported goods has exceeded over 2.4m tons.

He expressed hope that by allocating $300m, the Chabahar-Zahedan railway will be completed by 2021.

He noted that by investment at Imam Khomeini Airport, the air transportation system will be expanded to six hubs while Tehran will be the center of this hub.

Meanwhile deputy minister Shahram Adamnejad said that transportation of goods has increased by 12 percent despite enemies’ economic pressure.

He added that the progress has also been in transportation of passengers either in rail or marine sectors.
