TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran national handball team left Tehran on Tuesday to hold a 10-day training camp in Qatar as part of the preparation for the 2020 Asian Men’s Handball Championship.
Iran handball team will play several friendly matches with Qatar league clubs in the camp.
The 2020 Asian Men’s Handball Championship is the 19th edition of the championship held under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation.
The championship will be held in Kuwait City, Kuwait from January 16 to 27, 2020.
It acts as the Asian qualifying tournament for the 2021 World Men’s Handball Championship.
Iran has been drawn in Pool A along with Bahrain and New Zealand.
Pool B consists of Qatar, Japan, and China. South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Australia are in Pool C.
Host Kuwait is drawn in Pool D along with the UAE, Iraq and Hong Kong.
Earlier this season, Iran national handball team was defeated against Qatar in a friendly match.
Last month, the Asian Handball Confederation has granted the right to host the competition to Iran.
The competition will be held in the southern city of Shiraz, Fars Province from July 10 to 22, 2020.
The Iran handball federation will be hosting an Asian tournament after six years.
