Iran Reacts to UWW’s Decision to Postpone Greco-Roman World Cup
According To Iran News, Spokesman of Iran Wrestling Federation Hassan Rangraz criticized United World Wrestling for postponing the 2019 Greco-Roman World Cup.
In response to current situation in Iran, the World Cup, originally slated to be held next weekend in Tehran, has been postponed.
The UWW Executive Committee held a meeting on Sunday in Istanbul and assessed a variety of sources including the associated Foreign Ministries recommendations to travelers in Iran and the recent decision of other sports.
It was also acknowledged by the Executive Committee that two teams had already withdrawn their participation due to the recommendations of their nations.
“The postponing the competition is meaningless. We are ready to host the competition and have finalized preparation. UWW has canceled the event without considering our condition. We have no security problems in the country and want to fix some difficulties for the participants,” Rangraz said.
“Iran is ready to host one of the most glorious competitions. We believe that the postponing the competition in Tehran is meaningless,” he added.
