To add insult to injury, Saudi Press Agency on Thursday reported that during the elections in the 63rd General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Saudi Arabia has won membership to the board of governors of the IAEA for a period of two years.

One of the most corruption risks in the international bodies is the entry of members which act with ill-intention and intention for sabotage, and probably by spending huge amount of money which is considered a cruelty and injustice and they also endorse those void intentions.

Although in recent years the board of governors of the IAEA has tried not to obey the U.S. and Israel but is has not been so impartial, either, as in its statements or opinions on trust building measures either before or after the JCPOA it has run with the hare and hunted with the hounds.

Now media outlets have reported that during the 63rd General Conference of the IAEA, Estonia, Ghana, Greece, Hungary, Mongolia, Nigeria, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have been elected as new members of the board of governors of the IAEA.

Memberships of ten countries Armenia, Chile, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Portugal, South Korea, Serbia, Sudan and Venezuela ended on Thursday.

The board of governors of the IAEA consists of 35 members while its 20 members are appointed geographically by the general assembly. Members of the board of governors are both elective and appointive.

The appointive members of the board of governors are chosen according to the Article 6 of the Statutes of the IAEA and introduced to the General Conference. The General Conference is the highest legislative body of the IAEA.

The 63rd General Conference of the IAEA began on last Monday in Vienna. During the conference, participants and some important personalities raised some issues about the road of the agency in the future by highlighting the past performance and pointing to the tasks and undertakings of the agency and finally on Thursday, the General Conference voted.

I think it is unlikely that we, Iran, would have become happy by Saudi s membership while we have one of the most disputable cases in the IAEA which is still open. Because Saudi Arabia has shown its hostility with the Islamic Republic in different ways since the victory of the Islamic Revolution and most of their hostile acts smelled of hatred and violence.

Meanwhile today Saudi Arabia in its political relations supports Zionist regime and its total independence to the Great Satan, the U.S., is undeniable and it makes the Islamic Republic of Iran’s envoys in the IAEA to be vigilant on Saudis’ behavior in order not to let this country in the agency add fuel to the fire which has resulted in raucousness in the Persian Gulf.

Since God has always been supporting the Islamic Republic of Iran, Saudi Arabia’s entrance entry to the board and probably pushing the board towards discredit in its rulings can provide opportunity for Iran to have a logical and world approving reason for pulling out of the NPT and to suspend its membership.  Like most of supporters of the agency which have not been and still are not committed to the NPT but their accusations against other countries have turned into a ground for propagation for controlling nuclear behavior of other countries.
