Iranian Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Farhad Dejpasand yesterday in Tehran hosted visiting Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Shahin Mustafayev.

During the meeting both sides reviewed the latest economic development between both states and called for boosting the current trade volume.
Iranian minister Dejpasand said that Iran and Azerbaijan’s trade has been doubled in the past six months comparing to the same period last year.
He went on to say that the economic relation between both countries has improved in recent months and it could get better by removing hurdles.
He added that some joint investment projects are underway which are carried out by state- run and private sectors, adding that the projects are in different fields like rail industry. The minister also reiterated that trade exchange between both states has increased significantly.
Dejpasand added that the number of Iranian companies in Azerbaijan has grown by 34 percent.
He noted that Iran and Azerbaijan have common views on some fields like energy, banking and customs affairs and these issues will be devised in form of a memorandums of understanding which will be presented for signing during the three-way joint meeting of Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan in Sochi.
The Iranian minister reiterated that despite restrictions and problems, bilateral cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan is going well, noting that he is to meet Azerbaijani economic minister in the upcoming fall and during the meeting, other issues like cooperation in auto-making, pharmaceuticals and agro will be discussed.
Last month, Iran explored with Azerbaijan means to strengthen their bilateral relations and collaboration on various areas, mainly in transportation.
According to reports, the projects implemented by Azerbaijan and Iran designed to integrate regional transport networks will increase the competitiveness of International North-South Transport Corridor as well as deepen the relations in the regional format.
