“The Americans will not reach their goals… we will export oil as much as we need and intend,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
He made the remarks in a meeting with a group of laborers from across the nation on the occasion of the National Workers Week.
Regarding the recent move by the US on threatening the buyers of Iranian oil, the Leader said, “They think they have blocked our oil exports, but our great nation and officials together will eliminate all the hurdles.”
The United States reimposed sanctions in November on exports of Iranian oil after US President Donald Trump last spring unilaterally pulled out of the nuclear deal. Eight economies, including China and India, were granted waivers for six months, and several had expected those exemptions to be renewed.
However, the Trump administration said on Monday it will not renew exemptions granted last year to buyers of Iranian oil and demanded that buyers of the country’s crude stop purchases by May 1 or face sanctions.
Ayatollah Khamenei warned that Washington’s measure will bear consequences for them, and the Iranian nation will not remain silent against such animosity.
