Mindful of Iran’s great defense power and afraid of heavy casualties that they would suffer in a military confrontation, the enemies of the Islamic Republic do not dare take action against the country, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said.
In comments in a gathering of military commanders on Sunday evening, Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said Iran has been facing military threats over the past years, but the country’s “effectual defensive deterrence” and the “enemy’s fear of the heavy casualties, damages and costs” in a war against Iran have prevented a military skirmish.
He also gave an assurance that Iran would not waste a moment to boost its defense capabilities to counter the threats.
The senior commander warned of the enemy’s new plots, such as “cognitive warfare” and “development of psychological war” to carry out its hostile objectives, saying such methods were employed by the US in the occupation of Iraq.
Pointing to the defeat of terrorism in Syria and Iraq, Major General Baqeri said the countries that had given birth to terrorist groups there have now queued up to reopen their embassies in Syria and Iraq.
The top general also said that while the US spent $7 trillion in Syria and Iraq and gained nothing, Iran spent very little but made great achievements with its resolve, wisdom and resourcefulness.
In remarks in August 2018, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned the enemies of the heavy costs of any military action against the country, saying the existing unity among the Iranian people, Leadership and the Armed Forces has made the Islamic Republic unbeatable.
