A select of historical documents, photographs and handwoven rugs will go on display today at the UNESCO-registered Golestan Palace in downtown Tehran.

The documents, which include international treaties and diplomatic reports, will be put on show for the first time, the palace’s website announced.

The exhibit also features 40 pictures of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar, who was the King of Persia (Iran) from 1848 to 1896 when he was assassinated.

Golestan Palace became a center of Qajari arts and architecture which is an outstanding example and has remained a source of inspiration for Iranian artists and architects to this day. It embodies a successful integration of earlier Persian crafts and architecture with Western influences.
