Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, heading a high-ranking delegation, has landed in Turkish city Istanbul to take part at the 6th ministerial meetings of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Iran.
Foreign Minister Zarif is in Istanbul on a working visit to take part at the 6th trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Republic of Azerbaijan and Islamic Republic of Iran.
Turkey’s Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, and Azerbaijan’s Elmar Mammadyarov will meet Zarif today to confer on the current regional developments and global issues.
They will also discuss opportunities for further cooperation among three countries, in the political and economic fields.
The last trilateral meeting of foreign ministers was held in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2017.
Prior to the meeting, Zarif will attend the opening ceremony of the first phase of one of the world’s largest airports in Istanbul.
Over 50 foreign dignitaries from at least 18 countries including Pakistan, Serbia, Sudan, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Georgia, Iran, and the UK will attend the ceremony, according to Ankara-based Anadolu Agency.
With the remaining phases to be completed by 2023, the airport is to sport six separate runways with a capacity of 500 aircraft, an annual 200 million passengers and open and closed parking lots for 70,000 cars, Anadolu Agency adds.
