Naser Behzad, the Commercial Attaché at the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad, announced an increase of 13% in Iran’s non-oil exports to Iraq.
Behzad said on Tuesday that the value of non-oil exports to Iraq in the first quarter of current year was also up 3 percent from the same period last year; Iran’s share of the Iraqi market is now about 15 percent.
In the first quarter of current Iranian calendar year (beginning on March 21), Iran exported 3.7 million tons of non-oil goods, valued at $3.6 billion, showing an increase of $200 million, compared with the same period last year, he said, adding “Iraq is considered the most important destination for the export of Iranian goods.”
The volume of trade exchanges between Iran and Iraq is currently more than 13.2 billion dollars a year, he noted.
