Iranian climber Reza Alipour grabbed the bronze medal in men’s speed category at 2018 IFSC Climbing Worldcup held in Arco, Italy.
The two day competitions kicked off on July 27 in Italian town of Arco where climbers competed in men’s and women’s lead and speed categories.
Alipour, who is also nicknamed as Persian Cheetah, defeated Russia’s Dmitrii Timofeev in third place playoff with the time of 5.59 seconds and received the bronze medal. His Russian rival set the time of 6.26 seconds in this level.
Ukrainian Danyil Boldyrev and Russian Aleksandr Shilov grabbed gold and silver medals of this category with times of 5.58 and 5.70 seconds respectively.
Alipour is the world record holder of speed climbing and has also been titled as the 2017 International World Games Association (IWGA) Athlete of the Year.
