Gholamreza Ansari made the remarks on Monday during his visit to Astara, Northern Gilan province.
Describing the level of relations between Islamic Republic of Iran and Azerbaijan as “good”, he said that the two countries are interested in further expanding economic ties.
He went on to say that the Republic of Azerbaijan has made great investments in Iran’s rail sector.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ansari added that Astara has enormous potential in economic and tourism sectors.
“Providing further support, we will help Astara to make border, rail and maritime transit more active,” he added.
