TEHRAN – Two close confidants of U.S. President Donald Trump were scheduled to speak on Saturday before a Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK) event, raising fresh questions about the group’s Washington influence as Trump pursues a pressure campaign against Tehran.

According to Politico, Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani and informal adviser Newt Gingrich were listed as headliners for Saturday’s “Free Iran” conference in Paris, organized by the MEK terrorist group and its affiliates.

The MEK was listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and European Union in 1997 and 2002 respectively, but as more efforts got directed to vilify Iran, the MKO got delisted by the EU on January 26, 2009 and by the U.S. on September 28, 2012.
