TEHRAN – Iranian director Reza Dormishian’s social drama “Lanturi” will be dubbed into Chinese.
A group of Chinese voice actors is scheduled to be hired to work on the movie, Mohammad Atebbai, who is the international distributor of “Lanturi”, said in a press release published on Friday.
The movie starring Baran Kowsari and Navid Mohammadzadeh tells a love story that is turned tragic by external circumstances.
Gang member Pasha runs amok because Maryam, a socially committed, self-confident journalist, does not reciprocate his feelings. The badly injured young woman demands lex talionis – the law, applicable in Iran, of “an eye for an eye”.
“Lanturi” has been acclaimed at several international festivals. Dormishian was selected as the Most Inspiring Director of the Year for the movie at the 16th Istanbul International Independent Film Festival in February 2017.
It also won the award for best film at the Braunschweig International Film Festival in Germany in November 2016.
