TEHRAN – The Iran Cultural Fairs Institute (ICFI) has signed memorandums of understanding with the Seoul International Book Fair (SIBF) and Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE).
The MOUs were inked at the Seoul book fair, which is currently underway in the South Korean capital, the ICFI announced on Thursday.
Based on the MOU between ICFI and SIBF, Iran and Korea provide a pavilion for each country for three years at the Tehran International Book Fair and Seoul book fair.
Both countries have also agreed to facilitate their publishers’ participation in the book fairs.
Iran also agreed to assess the issue of Seoul as a special guest of the Tehran book fair and the Koreans agreed to survey Iran’s request that Korea host Iran as a special guest country at the SIBF.
Based on the MOU signed between an ICFI representative and TIBE Chairman James C. M. Chao at the Seoul book fair, for a period of three years, both sides undertook to provide appropriate facilities for publishers from the two countries to participate in the Taipei book exhibition and Tehran book fair.
At the meeting, Chao expressed his hope that the MOU would provide the ground for the expansion of cultural relations between Iran and Taiwan.
Dozens of Iranian publishing houses are displaying their latest offerings at the Seoul International Book Fair, which will run until June 24.
