Chief of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Mojtaba Khosrotaj said that export of non-oil commodities in the Iranian month of Farvardin (from March 21 to April 22) increased 15 percent as compared to the same period last year.
Speaking in a ceremony to commemorate exemplary exporters of Isfahan Province, he put the nonoil export of goods in the past Iranian calendar year in 1396 (ended March 20m, 2018) at $47 billion, showing a considerable 6.5 percent growth as compared to a year earlier.
With due observance to the said issue, foreign trade balance hit negative in the past Iranian calendar year in 1396 (ended March 20, 2018).
He reiterated that projects, valued at $8 billion, will be put into operation in the current Iranian calendar year in 1397 (started March 21, 2018), based on which, export volume of products will increase up to $8 billion.
He put the export and import volume of products in the past Iranian calendar year in 1396 (ended March 20, 2018) at $3 and $10 billion respectively which indicates the negative trade balance as much as $7 billion.
Given the existing capacities of medicinal herbs in the country, negative trade balance and high imports of this product is not justifiable, he maintained.
There is no worry for export of products from the country and exporters can export their products with peace of mind, he said, adding, “we have requested 40,000 billion rials worth of credit for supporting nonoil exports, the figure of which accounts for only two percent of total nonoil exports volume.”
At the end of this prestigious ceremony, 50 exemplary exporters of this province were appreciated.
