Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan Republic discussed connecting electrical grids of the three countries and creating a North-South electricity corridor.
The trilateral meeting was attended by Azerbaijan Republic’s Deputy Oil Minister Natiq Abbasov, Iranian Deputy Minister of Energy Homayoun Haeri and Deputy Energy Minister of Russian Federation.
For his part, Haeri Iran’s Deputy Energy Minister said that Iran is interesting in implementing the project of connecting the electrical grids, adding, “the three countries of Iran, Azerbaijan Republic and Russian Federation enjoy high potential and capacity for exchanging electricity.”
The power officials of the three countries agreed on the next meeting in June in Moscow as well as drafting the joint agreement.
It should be noted that a final protocol was also signed and sealed by the three officials.
