TEHRAN – The Iranian Artists Forum in Tehran will celebrate Noruz, the Iranian New Year, with its spring festival opening on March 22, the second day of Noruz.
Entitled “Tehran, City of Art”, the festival will organize exhibitions of paintings, photos, graphic designs, illustrations and handmade ceramic works at all the galleries of the center.
Regional music groups from around the country will give concerts during the festival at the courtyard of the forum.
Danub Music Band led by guitarist Ashkan Mokhtarband will also be giving concerts.
Honar-o-Andisheh, a troupe by director Kermat Rudsaz, will be performing a number of comic plays at the forum.
Rudsaz will also stage a kheimeh shab-bazi performance, and Sara Abbaspur and Mohamamdreza Majuni will put on a naqqali performance.
Naqqali is a style of storytelling dedicated to Shahnameh epic stories, and kheimeh shab-bazi is a traditional Persian puppet show performed in a small chamber by a musical performer and a person called a morshed (mentor). The dialogue takes place between the morshed and the puppets.
The festival will be running until March 31.
