TEHRAN – Iran’s Judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani on Monday gave the go-ahead to provincial judicial authorities to take action against “rioters” and “vandals”, urging the protesters to take a separate path from the violent protesters.
“Some individuals are exploiting the situation. This is wrong,” he said, referring to the protest rallies in recent days in some cities which have been misused by some saboteurs in in some cases.
Instances of vandalism cannot be tolerated by the police and the Judiciary, Amoli Larijani said, adding that the rioters will not be allowed to destroy public property.
In the meantime, Mohsen Nasj Hamedani, Tehran’s deputy governor, said President Rouhani has urged related bodies to make sure that post-2009 election incarceration abuses are not repeated.
