TEHRAN – A collection of rare Christian manuscripts and documents was put on display in an exhibition at the National Library and Archives of Iran (NLAI) on Monday.
The exhibition has been organized to celebrate Christmas, the NLAI announced on Tuesday.
A copy of the Bible and a Persian copy of “The Story of Christ”, which was published in Leiden in 1639, are among the books on display at the exhibition.
The exhibit also is displaying the original text of “Christmas Eve”, an article Iranian writer Mohammad-Ali Jamalzadeh wrote for Vahid, a magazine that was published over 50 years ago.
Several greeting cards sent by European official to their Iranian counterparts during the reign of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and texts of some Christian prayers are among the items on view at the exhibit, which will run for two weeks.
