Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said Iran’s nuclear capacities have not diminished since the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) came into force.
Since the JCPOA implementation, “our nuclear capability has not declined but, rather, we can continue on this path (of progress in peaceful nuclear technology) powerfully…,” Boroujerdi told reporters on the sidelines of a visit to the Isfahan Uranium Conversion Facility (UCF) in central Iran on Monday.
“We move on based on the nuclear accord and supply the needs (in the field),” he added.
Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, US, Britain, France, and Germany) on July 14, 2015, reached a conclusion over the text of the JCPOA, and implemented the agreement in January 2016.
Taking into account the growing applications of nuclear energy and its role in the socio-economic development of societies, Iran has always underscored its determination to vigorously continue to exercise its inalienable right to develop research, production and use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
Meanwhile, Iran’s full compliance with all its obligations under its Safeguards Agreement and fulfillment of its commitments under the JCPOA have been confirmed in numerous reports of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as the sole relevant competent international authority.
