France and the US are determined to “vigorously” increase pressure on Iran over its ballistic missile program, including possibly through sanctions, according to France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.
Le Drian was in the American capital on Monday to meet US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, White House national security adviser H.R. McMaster and US President Donald Trump’s special adviser Jared Kushner, Reuters said.
Le Drian is also due in Iran at the beginning of January. Unlike Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the deal Iran signed in 2015 over its disputed nuclear program in exchange for lifting most international sanctions.
