TEHRAN – Mohammad Hossein Barkhah has been named as new head coach of Iran weightlifting team.
Barkhah replaced Mohsen Beiranvand, who was appointed as secretary general of Iran Weightlifting Federation, in the weightlifting team.
Barkhah has previously coached Iran junior team and now Asghar Ebrahimi is taking charge of the team.
Barkhah is a retired Iranian weightlifting champion.
In 2003 he twisted one of his arms while performing a snatch in world championship in Vancouver, Canada.
He represented the Islamic Republic of Iran in both the 2000 and 2004 Olympics.
Barkhah has won two bronze medals in the World Weightlifting Championship in Antalya 2001 and Warsaw 2002.
