TEHRAN– Deputy Iranian foreign minister, who is on an official visit to Moscow, met and talked several Russian officials including deputy defense minister as well as Putin’s special envoy on Syria.
On Tuesday evening in Moscow, Head of Iranian delegation at Astana talks Hossein Jaberi Ansari discussed issues related to the Syrian crisis at a meeting with Russian Deputy Minister of Defense Alexander Fomin and Russian President Putin’s Special Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev.
The parties at session, which was held at the headquarters of the Russian Defense Ministry, discussed recent developments in Syria and made coordination for the latest efforts and initiatives of the three countries guaranteeing the Astana Peace Process (Iran, Russia and Turkey) to reduce tension and resolve the Syrian crisis.
Jaberi Ansari told reporters prior to the meeting that he would examine the results of the Astana Syrian talks with the Russian official.
He noted that talks were fruitful, hoping that today’s talks would be useful in coordinating actions on Syria.
The Iranian deputy foreign minister also attended a joint session with Mikhail Leonidovich Bogdanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East.
The two sides at the meeting mulled over regional developments and exchanged views on collaborations between Tehran and Russia for resolving the Syrian crisis.
