Marathon is a surreal playwright which is formed by creating a no-place, no-time setting; a situation which perhaps doesn’t have objective existence and it can be said that all people have experienced it.

Arash Asgari, the director and writer of the playwright says, “Usually one of the basic difficulties of playwrights is lack of content balance of the dramatic story. It means normally playwrights do not have dramatic attraction. In another word, persuading and encouraging the audience in fundamental dramatic play situation is weak or merely they have been dramatic situation and have not been rich in layers of meaning and concepts. Maintaining this balance which is the play’s strong dramatic job and also rich content is a difficult task and if there is any success in this way, it will distinguish one play work from similar works which are in the same field.”

He went on to say, “All of my efforts in “Marathon” had been to keep this balance. That is the audience who makes a good connection with the essence of the story and the process of drama inside it, also it influences the audience either by its content and meaning”

On Marathon, Asgari added, “Marathon is a play with a special surreal setting but considering dramatic components which one of them has made the story interesting and full of attraction. On the other hand, it faces the audience with basic concepts and lets the stream of unconsciousness forms in audience’s mind. And also in another layer of Marathon, the audience is involved in some contemporary concerns  concepts.

Asgari has cooperated in some other playwrights like “Letter of Night” , “Kaligula”, “Lord of Seventh Street”, “White Ascend”, “Yellow Sleep”, “City Lady”, “Sleeping Under Newspaper Incident Page”, “Bitter Tea”, “Twenty Four”, and “Trace Behind Window.”
