TEHRAN – Iranian director Kazem Mollai’s drama “Kupal” was selected as best feature film at the Hamilton Film Festival, while it also brought Levon Haftvan the award for best actor, the organizers of the Canadian event announced on Sunday night.
“Kupal” tells the story of a hunter and a taxidermist called “Dr. Ahmad Kupal”. On the last day of the year, moments before the arrival of the New Year, he faces an unexpected challenge.
The best actress award was presented to Evelyne Brochu for her role in “Past Imperfect” by Nathalie Teirlinck from Belgium, and “Backstory” by Joschka Laukeninks from Germany was picked for the special jury award.
The Hamilton Film Festival was held in Ontario from November 4 to 12.
