Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday in Damascus.
Hossein Jaberi Ansari, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus on Wednesday.
The Iranian diplomat met the Syrian president immediately after arriving in Damascus from Russian capital city of Moscow where he met with a host of Russian officials.
During the meeting, Mr. Jaberi Ansari and President Assad conferred on a broad range of topics including bilateral ties and the regional developments.
In Moscow, the Iranian senior diplomat held talks with Russian President’s Special Envoy for Syrian Affairs Alexander Lavrentiev, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
Jaberi Ansari met with Fomin and Lavrentiev at the Russian defense ministry and the two sides conferred on the latest developments in Syria.
They also talked about the latest efforts and initiatives of the three guarantor states of Astana Process – Iran, Russia, and Turkey – to de-escalate the ongoing tension and resolve the Syria crisis.
In a separate meeting, Jaberi Ansari has held talks with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Bogdanov on Tuesday in Moscow.
During the meeting, the head of Iran’s delegation to Astana Talks on Syria and the Russian official, who is President Vladimir Putin’s special representative for the Middle East, discussed the latest developments in the region and the cooperation between the two countries to resolve the Syrian crisis.
