TEHRAN – Iran earned its second victory in a row in the 2017 Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup on Wednesday.
Iran, who had defeated Paraguay 5-2 in its opening match on Tuesday, overpowered Mexico 4-1 in Group B.
Seyed Ali Nazem, Amirhosein Akbari, Moslem Mesigar and Ali Mirshekari kept Marco Octavio’s men on course for their first Dubai title since 2013.
Russia also edged past Paraguay 2-1 in the group.
Iran will play Russia on Thursday for top spot in the group.
Group A consists of Brazil, the UAE, Portugal and Egypt.
The 2017 Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup is an annual international beach soccer tournament contested by men’s national teams, held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
