Iran defeated Guinea 3-1 in Group C of the FIFA U-17 World Cup on Saturday.
In the match held at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa, India, Allahyar Sayyadmanesh put the Iranian team into the lead in the 59th minute with a superb long-range shot.
Mohammad Sharifi extended Iran’s lead 11 minutes later from the penalty spot. Two minutes before, Guinea defender Cherif Camara received a straight red card for kicking out Iran’s Mohammad Ghaderi in the penalty area.
Saeid Karimi made scoreboard 3-0 in the 90th minute after Guinea goalkeeper failed to clear the ball and the Iranian player opened the empty net.
Fandje Toure scored a stoppage-time consolation goal for the African team.
Earlier in the day, Germany edged past Costa Rica 2-1 in the same group.
Abbas Chamanian’s boys will play Germany on Tuesday, while Guinea meet Costa Rica.
