TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said Pakistani Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif is scheduled to pay an official visit to the Iranian capital Monday.
Heading a politico-economic delegation, Asif will arrive in Tehran on Monday to discuss bilateral ties and regional and international developments, Qassemi said in a statement on Sunday.
He added that the Pakistani minister will sit down with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, his counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, and Mohammad Nahavandian, vice-president for economic affairs, during his one-day visit.
In 2016, High-ranking officials from Iran and Pakistan signed six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas, including health, commerce, security and foreign services.
The documents were signed in a ceremony in Islamabad on March 26, attended by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and the then Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, after a meeting between the two countries’ delegations.
