The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said on Thursday that the US withdrawal from the JCPOA discredited the US, adding Trump’s move meant to divert US public attention from his own problems.

Bahram Ghasemi told our correspondent that Trump’s repeated claims against Iran’s role in the region come at a time when the United States is trying to increase its illegitimate presence in the region to secure its interest with the support of some reactionary regimes in the region.

Ghasemi said that Trump in his latest announcement accused Iran of sponsoring terrorism while the US support for terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria could have been seen with the naked eyes.

In contrast, according to Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, the people and governments of Iraq and Syria have expressed their appreciation to Iran for its help in victories achieved by them against US-backed terrorist groups.

Meanwhile, Ghasemi rejected Trump’s claim that the nuclear deal would have started an arm race in the region, saying his claim comes at a time when the United States has sold billions of dollar worth of deadly weapons to the Arab countries to commit crimes in Yemen and other parts of the region.

He concluded by saying that Trump’s move in pulling out of the nuclear deal with Iran discredited the United States, adding it also was an attempt to divert attentions from his own problems inside the country.
