Ghasem Haddadifar Named Zob Ahan Coach

TEHRAN (Iran News) Haddadifar, 41, replaced Mohammad Rabiei in the Isfahan-based club.

He played about two decades for Zob Ahan and helped the Greens win four Hazfi Cup titles.

Haddadifar also became runner-up in the 2010 AFC Champions League with Zob Ahan.

Zob Ahan finished in sixth place in the 2024-25 Iran Professional League.

Esteghlal Khuzestan Held by Zob Ahan in Ahvaz

TEHRAN (Iran News) The match was held in Ahvaz’s Ghadir Stadium.

Chadormalu and Aluminum also shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in Yazd’s Nasiri Stadium.

Chadormalu could have jumped to fourth with a win but remained in sixth place with 18 points, seven points adrift of leader Tractor.

On Wednesday, Persepolis will meet Malavan in Bandar Anzali.

Zob Ahan Defeats Shams Azar: IPL

TEHRAN (Iran News) In the match, held in Isfahan’s Fooladshahr Stadium, Majid Aliyari opened the scoring for Zob Ahan in the 26th minute from the penalty spot and Omid Latifi made it 2-0 with four minutes remaining to the break. Mohsen Azarbad scored the third goal in the 64th minute.

Zob Ahan moved up to seventh place with 13 points, eight points adrift of IPL leader Sepahan.

Shams Azar remained 12th with 10 points.

Luka Bonacic, New Zob Ahan Coach

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Croatian coach Luka Bonacic has been named as the new head coach of the Zob Ahan football team.

Bonacic replaced Miodrag Radulovic who didn’t return to Isfahan after leaving the team in March due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Bonacic had worked in the Isfahan-based football club in 2013-14 season.

The 65-year-old coach has worked in many Iranian teams including Foolad, Sepahan, Gostaresh, Esteghlal and Mes Kerman.

Zob Ahan sits 11th in the Iran Professional League, six points above relegation zone.

Coach Radulovic Won’t Return to Zob Ahan

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Zob Ahan’s Montenegrin coach Miodrag Radulovic will not return to Isfahan.

With nine matches remaining, the Iranian football league is scheduled to resume on June 24.

“The borders between Serbia and Turkey are closed and there is no air transport as well due to COVID-19 outbreak. I have to find a friendly way to part company with Zob Ahan. Honestly, I like to continue my job in Iran but I cannot leave my country due to the coronavirus,” Radulovic said.

Zob Ahan sits 11th in the Iran Professional League table.

Esteghlal, Zob Ahan plays empty stadium

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Esteghlal football team defeated Zob Ahan 2-1 in an empty stadium in Iran Professional League on Sunday.

Mohammad Daneshgar gave Esteghlal the lead in the 29th minute and Zob Ahan Serbian forward Darko Bjedov equalized the match in the 49th minute.

Two minutes later, Ali Dashti was brought down in the Zob Ahan penalty area and the referee showed the penalty spot. Vouria Ghafouri converted the penalty to give Esteghlal an important 2-1 win.

In Mashhad, Shahr Khodro came behind from a 1-0 loss to beat Naft Majed Soleyman 2-1.

This week’s matches were held behind the closed doors amid fears of a coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier on the day, Sepahan was supposed to host Persepolis in Isfahan but the match was canceled after Sepahan showed up to the Naghsh-e Jahan Stadium.

Persepolis remain top of the table with 41 points with one game in hands. Tractor and Esteghlal are second and third with 37 and 36 points respectively.

Miodrag Radulovic Appointed Zob Ahan Coach

According To Iran News, Miodrag Radulovic was named as new head coach of Zob Ahan football team.

The 52-year-old Montenegrin coach has penned an 18-month contract with the Isfahan-based football team.

Radulovic replaced Alireza Mansourian in Zob Ahan.

The details of the contract fee have not been disclosed.

Zob Ahan sits 11th in Iran Professional League (IPL).

Zob Ahan eliminated from 2019 ACL

The Saudi side had won the first leg 2-1 and with Monday’s result, it managed to advance to the event’s quarter-finals with a 6-4 aggregate.

This was the third round of 16 exit for Zob Ahan in four years and hence Iran will not have any representative in the next round of 2019 ACL. Earlier, Tehran giants Persepolis and Esteghlal were eliminated in the group stage of the event.

Although Zob Ahan was the host of this match, it was held in Qatar. Using different lobbies, Saudi Arabia has convinced the AFC to play with Iranian teams in other countries, claiming that Iranian stadiums are not safe. Iran has objected to this decision since it practically eliminates Iranian fans which can play a major role in boosting the spirit of players; however, the Asian Football Confederation still favors Saudis. Iran says it confronts no problem in providing security of games as it is constantly hosting different teams from various Asian countries, including Qatar, UAE, Iraq, etc.

Iran’s Zob Ahan Books Place at ACL Round of 16 as Group Winner

Zob Ahan was held to a goalless draw by Saudi Arabia’s Al Nasr at the Grand Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

The rescheduled Matchday Six fixture had been supposed to take place a week earlier in Karbala, Iraq, but due to security concerns, it was postponed and moved to Qatar.

Both teams had already advanced to the next stage, so it was an opportunity for the two managers to experiment with their choices in what was the last fixture of their respective seasons.

Zob Ahan will meet Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia, while Al Nassr will play Group B topper Al Wahda of the UAE in Round of 16.

Zobahan beats Al-Wasl, Esteghlal loses to Al-Hilal at 2019 AFC Champions League

At the Group A of the 2019 AFC Champions League, Iran’s Zobahan FC took on UAE’s Al-Wasl at Foolad Shahr Stadium in Isfahan in central Iran and the match ended with a 2-0 result for the Iranian team. Zobahan had gained a 3-1 victory over Al-Wasl in their first match at the group stage of the Asian competitions.

Zobahan tops Group A with 10 points, 4 points ahead of Saudi Al-Nassr, and look set to make their first knockout appearance since 2016.

The second leg match between Esteghlal and Al-Hilal at the Group C of 2019 AFC Champions League was held at Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, UAE on Tuesday and it ended with a one goal for the Saudi side. In the first encounter, the Iranian Esteghlal had beaten its Saudi rival 2-1.
