]]> The AFC Champions League began on Monday by group play in the first group.

The second match in the Group I between the Iranian Zobahan and the Iraqi Al-Zawra was held at the Fulad Shahr Stadium in the central Iranian city of Isfahan.

While the Iranian side staged several attacks on the post of the Iraqi opponent, the Al-Zawra’s goalkeeper shined during the match and kept the post of his team closed to frustrate the Iranian team until the end.

Zobahan managed to reach the group’s stage of the 2019 AFC Champions League by beating Al Kuwait SC at the second preliminary round of the competitions 1-0.

The first match in the same group between Al Wasl Emirates Club and Saudi Al-Nasr team at Zabeel Stadium in Dubai ended 1-0 for the Emirati side.

 Iran’s Zobahan football club gained a 3-2 victory against Qatari Al-Gharafa Sports Club at 2019 AFC Champions League qualifying play-offs on Tuesday to advance to the group stage of the competitions.

The 2019 AFC Champions League qualifying play-offs were played from 5 to 19 February 2019. A total of 27 teams competed in the qualifying play-offs to decide eight of the 32 places in the group stage of the 2019 AFC Champions League.

From Iran, two football teams of Zobahan and Saipa faced two Qatari teams of Al-Gharafa and Al-Rayyan, respectively, on Tuesday. While Zobahan defeated its Qatari rival 3-2, Saipa lost to its opponent Al-Rayyan 3-1.

Zobahan has now advanced to the group stage of 2019 AFC Champions League, while Saipa failed to reach the competitions. Therefore, Zobahan along with Perspolis and Esteghlal will represent Iran in the competitions.

The 2019 AFC Champions League is the 38th edition of Asia’s premier club football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the 17th under the current AFC Champions League title.
