TEHRAN (Iran News) – Tehran, Moscow Urged to Ease Trade for Their Businessmen . Head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) in meeting with members of chamber of commerce and some traders of Tver Province of Russia called for enhancing trade between the province and its counterparts in Iran by removing hurdles.

Addressing the meeting, Hamid Zadboum said that Russian President Vladimir Putin was the first official who felicitated Iranian president-elect Hojjatoleslam Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, adding that this indicates the beginning for a new era and more cooperation with Russia. He expressed hope that the private sectors of Iran and Russia make the most of this expansion of political relations of the two states.

Zadboum then pointed to his recent visit to Saint Petersburg and the interest of Russian traders for cooperation with their Iranian counterparts, and called for more talks and finding practical solutions for developing the joint relation and cooperation for removing the probable hurdles.

He also reiterated that the relation between the two countries through cooperation of provinces and chambers of commerce of the provinces is necessary and it was decided the both sides to exchange necessary information to develop their trade cooperation.

Then head of head of union of industry and commerce chambers of Tver Province of Russia Mr. Shurkov Vladislav, for his part, expressed his gratitude over the hospitality and coordination of Iranians, adding that the visit of Iran’s ambassador to Tver Province and his new ideas encouraged this delegation from Tver Province to visit Tehran and to attend in this biggest event of Eurasia Expo 2021 which was held in Tehran.

He also expressed his satisfaction for attending the Eurasia EXPO in Tehran and expressed hope that the achievements in the exhibition would boost the trade between the province and Iran.

Then Vladislav briefed the Iranian sides of the potentials of companies of Tver Province and called for removing all hurdles in way of expansion of bilateral cooperation.

Meanwhile an expert on Russia’s affairs claimed yesterday that the trade volume between Iran and Russia is practically less than $2b while the amount of the signed agreement between the two countries is valued at over $25b.

Speaking to ILNA, Shoeib Bahman said that during the past years, one of the biggest challenges between Iran and Russia has been the expansion of trade relation because the trade volume between Iran and Russia has always been below $2b which is not a significant amount in the international trade.

He went on to say that for example, the trade volume between Turkey and Russia is over $30b while the two sides are planning to boost it to $100b and this is a determining factor in the political issues.

He then touched upon the reasons behind lack of growth in trade relation between Iran and Russia and said this issue has different reasons and one factor is that Iranians have not identified properly the capacities of Russian market, noting that unfortunately a notion has been shaped in the country that Russia has no capacity for exports that it is a wrong idea. Bahman further said that on the imports from Russia, this idea exists that Russian products are not good technologically and they are inferior comparing to their Western likes while if the technology of Russian products Russian is not better than the Western countries’, it is definitely not worse than them.

Bahman added that Iran and Russia have signed many agreements which are estimated to be valued at over $25b but practically, the trade volume between the two states is less than $2b.

During the meeting with the Indian Ambassador, Deputy of Iranian Industry Minister stressed the need to remove barriers to mutual trade and find new solutions for the development of trade relations between the two countries.

Head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Hamid Zadboum made the remarks in his meeting with the Indian Ambassador to Tehran Gaddam Dharmendra.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the decrease in trade between Iran and India, Zadboum said, “It is necessary for the negotiations of the preferential trade agreement for the exchange of commodity lists subject to the said agreement and the necessary measures to return petrochemical, industrial and steel goods to the basket of Iranian exports to India to enter the implementation phase immediately.”

“In this regard, it was agreed with the close cooperation of the Indian Embassy in Tehran, the negotiated issues to be implemented as soon as possible,” he added.

Referring to the date of the video conference of the head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran and his Indian counterpart, the Indian ambassador, for his part, stressed that this issue should be followed up and finalized through the embassy as soon as possible and within the next three weeks.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides stressed the two countries’ determination to develop and improve economic and trade relations.

Last week an official from Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization says the organization is abiding by the Coronavirus National Task Force guidelines, adding that trade relations with India are continuing while observing the measures.

Hossein Abbasnejad, from Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran, said that since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the Iranian ports have not stopped operating, adding that Iranian maritime activities and the activities of the ports have continued while observing necessary measures announced by the Coronavirus National Task Force.

The Iranian authority stressed that after the recent spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing problems in India, the Ports and Maritime Organization is acting according to the decisions made by the Coronavirus National Task Force.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Tehran to host EAEU exclusive expo in mid-May. Head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) has said an exclusive exhibition of Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states’ economic capabilities is planned to be held in Tehran on May 17.

According to Hamid Zadboum, the mentioned exhibition will be held if the coronavirus pandemic conditions get better in the country, the TPO portal reported.

Zadboum pointed to the Eurasia exhibition as a platform for representing the two sides’ export capacities, saying: “Hosting this exhibition is a great opportunity that can facilitate negotiations to achieve free trade with the union.”

Referring to the importance of the Eurasian exclusive exhibition for the Islamic Republic, the TPO head noted that official invitations have been sent to Eurasian authorities to attend this major event.

“Although the volume of trade between Iran and the five Eurasian Economic Union member states is not compatible with the two sides’ existing capacities, Iran’s trade with Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus is constantly improving and we have joint economic committees with all these countries,” he said.

It is necessary for Iranian and Eurasian traders to become more familiar with the capacities and benefits of cooperation in the context of free trade.

Underlining the significance of the Eurasian Union and its role in world trade, Zadboum said: “The union consists of five countries: Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus, which come together with different capabilities and capacities; of these five countries, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Russia are of special importance for Iran due to their neighborhood.”

“The annual global trade of these five countries is more than $850 billion, and economic and trade relations with this union, which also has a good political infrastructure, can be of great importance for the development of the country’s economic relations in the region,” the TPO head stressed.

Iran and Eurasian Economic Union reached a free trade agreement in October 2018 based on which about 862 commodity items were subjected to preferential tariffs.

The interim agreement enabling the formation of a free trade area between Iran and the EAEU was signed on May 17, 2018, and officially came into force on October 27, 2019.

Iran is a very important market in the region and the development of ties with this country is of high significance for the EAEU members.

The free trade agreement between Iran and this union has laid the ground for the expansion of trade ties between the two sides.

The agreement with the bloc has increased Iran’s exports to the EAEU member states significantly, which is a turning point for the Islamic Republic’s plans for boosting non-oil exports during the U.S. sanctions.
