TEHRAN (Iran News) Yemen’s Armed Forces have say they have downed two American MQ-9 drones over Sana’a, amid escalating confrontations with the United States and Israel during.

In a statement on Saturday, Yemen’s armed forces announced that the drone was intercepted using indigenously-developed air defense systems and missiles.

This brings the number of drones shot down this month to six and 21 since Yemen launched operations dubbed the “Battle of the Promised Victory and Holy Jihad.”

The continued airstrikes targeting civilians, their property, and public infrastructures will not break the will of the faithful, struggling Yemeni people, it noted. “Yemeni forces”

The statement emphasized that the aggression against Yemen “will only lead to greater steadfastness and unwavering support for the oppressed Palestinian people in confronting the war crimes being perpetrated by the Zionist enemy in Gaza.

The U.S. drone activity in Yemeni airspace has increased in recent months, with some drones being on surveillance missions or targeting the country’s military sites, according to the Yemeni sources.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s Transport Minister Muhammad Ayyash Qahim denounced the U.S. airstrikes targeting the Ras Isa oil port in Hudaydah

He described the attacks on civilian infrastructure a futile attempt to undermine Yemen’s support for Gaza. He reiterated that Yemen will not stay silent amid civilian casualties and the destruction of critical facilities in the U.S. aggression.

Similarly, Hudaydah Governor Abdullah Atifi labeled the U.S. strikes on the Ras Isa oil port a war crime, affirming Yemen’s unwavering backing for Palestine.

Yemen’s oil minister also condemned the destruction of the Ras Isa port as a deliberate U.S. move to put pressure on the Yemeni people, saying that these crimes would not weaken Yemen’s resolve to stand with Gaza.

The U.S. airstrikes on Ras Isa late Thursday killed at least 74 people, including five medical personnel. Yemeni officials declared the attacks proof of the failure of U.S. strategies against Yemen’s resistance movement.

TEHRAN (Iran News) “Rocketry Force carried out a high-profile military operation targeting the Nahal Sorek military base southeast of Jaffa,” the forces’ spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said in a statement on Monday, Yemen’s al-Masirah television network reported.

Saree identified the missile deployed during the operation as a Palestine-2 projectile.

“The strike was accurate, resulting in a fire breaking out in the vicinity of the targeted location,” he added.

According to the spokesman, the operation came “in support of the oppressed peoples of Palestine and Lebanon, and in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese resistances, and as part of the fifth stage of [Yemen’s] escalation [against the Israeli regime].”

This is not the first time that the forces have fired the projectile towards the occupied territories.

The strike came amid the Israeli regime’s October 2023-present genocidal war and concomitant siege on the Gaza Strip and deadly escalation against Lebanon, which have respectively claimed the lives of more than 43,600 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and at least 3,136 Lebanese.

Besides conducting hundreds of such operations, the forces have been targeting Israeli ships as well as vessels heading towards or away from the territories as a means of piling up economic pressure on the regime.

“The Yemeni Armed Forces will continue their military operations, which will not cease until the aggression stops, the siege on Gaza is lifted, and the aggression against Lebanon ends,” Saree stated.

According to the spokesman, the operation came “in support of the oppressed peoples of Palestine and Lebanon, and in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese resistances, and as part of the fifth stage of [Yemen’s] escalation [against the Israeli regime].”

The development came after pro-Hadi militias fled the district in Ma’rib following a multi-pronged operation by Houthi fighters against them, Press TV reported.

Saree said a squadron of Saudi-led fighter jets sought to bombard areas in the Sirwah district early on Tuesday when the domestically-built and long-range Fater-1 (Innovator-1) surface-to-air missile defense system intercepted the jets and forced them off Yemeni airspace.

The high-ranking Yemeni military official noted that the aircraft left the area without carrying out any strikes.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched the devastating campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing back to power the Riyadh-backed former government and crushing the Ansarullah movement.

The US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization, estimates that the war has claimed more than 100,000 lives over the past nearly five years.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have purchased billions of dollars’ worth of weapons from the United States, France and the United Kingdom in the war on Yemen.

The Saudi-led coalition has been widely criticized for the high civilian death toll from its bombing campaign. The alliance has carried out more than 20,650 air raids in Yemen, according to the data collected by the Yemen Data Project.

The UN says over 24 million Yemenis are in dire need of humanitarian aid, including 10 million suffering from extreme levels of hunger.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree said on Saturday that the Saudi-led coalition and its mercenaries continue to flout the agreement and keep on implementing escalation steps in the strategic Red Sea port city of Hudaydah, stressing that such actions will have dire repercussions.

“While our forces committed to implementing the Stockholm agreement and adopted unilateral measures such as redeployment (of forces) from Hudaydah ports, observation of the ceasefire and maintaining the flow of aid convoys among other steps, the coalition of aggression and its proxies are delaying the implementation of the accord,” Saree said, according to Press TV.

He noted that the al-Durayhimi district of Hudaydah province is still under siege by the Saudi-led alliance and its mercenaries, and the forces have been preventing the entry of food supplies and medicine destined for the besieged citizens for nearly a year.

Saree highlighted that the continued violation of Hudaydah truce has so far resulted in the deaths of 175 people, including 63 children, 27 women, and 85 men. Another 481 civilians, including 169 children, 97 women, and 215 men, have sustained injuries as well.

The senior Yemeni military official then held the United Nations and the Security Council responsible for the escalation of the situation in Hudayda.

“Our forces are ready to respond to any folly or escalator step. The coalition aggression and its mercenaries will have to bear the brunt then,” Saree emphasized.

Ansarullah delegates and fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi loyalists held a round of peace negotiations in Rimbo, north of the Swedish capital city of Stockholm, last December. The talks resulted in the announcement of a break-through agreement.

The document includes three provisions: a ceasefire along the Hudaydah front and the redeployment of armed forces out of the city and its port; an agreement on prisoner exchange; and a statement of understanding on the southern Yemeni city of Ta’iz.

According To Iran News, A military drone of the Saudi-led coalition has been intercepted and targeted while flying in the skies over Yemen’s western province of Hudaydah.

The media bureau of Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement said in a statement on Sunday that Yemeni army forces, supported by allied fighters from the Popular Committees, shot down the aircraft as it was on a reconnaissance mission over Kilo 16 district.

Separately, a bomb explosion struck a group of Riyadh’s mercenaries loyal to Yemen’s former President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi south of al-Maton district in the northern Yemeni province of al-Jawf. Casualties were reported but the exact number remains unknown, Press TV reported.

The aggression on the Arab world’s poorest country also has left millions suffering from food and medical care shortages and has pushed the country to the brink of famine.

Air raids by the Saudi-UAE coalition have hit civilians, hospitals and water treatment facilities. Aid groups estimate as many as 60,000 civilians have been killed in the war and as many as 85,000 children starved to death, with millions more “one step away from famine”.
