										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Wednesday, the third day of the event, Hamed Rashidi settled for the silver of men’s -100kg with a defeat against his Uzbek rival in the final bout. Rashidi had overpowered fighters from Uzbekistan and South Korea in the path to final.</p>
<p>In +100kg, Jafar Pahlavani earned the fourth silver of Iran with again another loss in the final against Uzbek practitioners. He had defeated representatives of Vietnam and Thailand before reaching the final.</p>
<p>On Tuesday, Iran won two silver medals by Elyas Ali Akbari and Omid Tiztak.</p>
<p>Uzbekistan claimed the event’s title, and Japan finished runner-up while Iran stood third with four silvers.</p>
<p>The 12th edition of World Kurash Senior Championships kicked off in South Korea’s Chungju on Monday with 184 practitioners from 42 different countries in attendance. The event is also part of the 2019 Martial Arts Masterships which is underway in the South Korean city.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Elyas Ali Akbari, world&#8217;s best kurash player of 2018, settled for a silver on Tuesday after conceding a defeat to an Uzbek rival in the final match of -81kg men’s category. Ali Akbari had defeated practitioners from India, Ukraine, and Tajikistan in his path to the final.</p>
<p>Another silver of men’s event for Iran was earned by Omid Tiztak in -90kg category. He defeated rivals from the Philippines, Vietnam, and France before suffering a defeat against an Uzbek practitioner in the final.</p>
<p>Iran will have two other representatives in the event which will wrestle with their rivals on Wednesday.</p>
<p>The 12th edition of World Kurash Senior Championships kicked off in South Korea’s Chungju on Monday with 184 practitioners from 42 different countries in attendance. The event is also part of the 2019 Martial Arts Masterships which is underway in the South Korean city.</p>

<p>In the group stage, Iran defeated South Korea 28-11 and Chinese Taipei 23-16 to advance to the next round. The team gained a 16-13 victory over Morocco in the semifinal.</p>
<p>Chinese Taipei and Morocco claimed bronze medals of this category.</p>
<p>The Iranian team was comprised of Amir Mohammad Bakhshi, Erfan Nazemi, Kimia Hemmati and Kimia Alizadeh.</p>
<p>The international martial arts competition kicked off in Chungju of North Chungcheong Province, about 150 kilometers southeast of Seoul, on Friday for an eight-day run, bringing together about 4,000 martial arts masters and officials from 100 countries worldwide, according to Yonhap News Agency.</p>
<p>Competitions is taking place in a total of 20 non-Western martial arts, including taekwondo, wushu, judo, kendo, muay thai, jujitsu and kickboxing. Dubbed the Martial Arts Olympics, the South Korean government-approved event is also sponsored by the Global Association of International Sports Federation (GAISF).</p>
<p>The Chungju masterships is the second competition held in the central South Korean province, after the first competition was hosted by Cheongju, the capital of the province, about 140 km south of Seoul, in August 2016.</p>

<p>A ranking point system, which has been applied to the Olympics, the world championships and the Asian Games, is used for the martial arts event&#8217;s nine categories, including taekwondo, jujitsu, muay thai, savate and pencak silat. The system will be applied to the taekwondo poomsae event for the first time, and the team winners of taekwondo kyorugi, a type of full-contact sparring, will earn an automatic berth in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.</p>
