Iranian First Vice-President Es’hagh Jahangiri made the remark in a national conference on the country’s scientific progress on Tuesday.

“The status of Iran has induced jealousy in some countries which seek to undermine Iran’s regional power,” said Jahangiri. “There is a movement that intents to challenge Iran’s influence in the region.”

Jahangiri then referred to the recent US-organized anti-Iran conference in Warsaw, saying “the conference took place while some actors with the help of Israel, the US and Saudi Arabia seek to scare others off Iran. They did something like that before, and they failed.”

The Iranian official also noted the US’ threat to impose sanctions on Pakistan during Donald Trump’s tenure, saying “with all the different views and opinions in Pakistan, the country’s experts and elites have decided to come together to protect their country from [the impact of] US sanctions.”

“We have to state with regret that the conference in Warsaw came as a new demonstration of the US administration’s policy towards creating new dividing lines in the Middle East, which is already oversaturated with conflicts and contradictions,” Tass quoted her as saying on late Monday.

“However, this is the signature style of Washington that has been staking since long on imposing unilateral recipes, like the notorious ‘deal of the century’ [on the Palestinian-Israeli settlement],” the diplomat added.

She also mentioned “the practice of building coalitions based on common interests – like, for example, the designed ‘Middle East NATO’ on the anti-Iranian basis.”

“All this leads away from the goal of achieving long-term stabilization in the region, complicates prospects for the settlement of the conflict situations existing there,” Zakharova stressed.

Warsaw conference was organized by the United States and held in the Polish capital from February 13 to 14. Despite US efforts to introduce Iran as a destabilizer and hide its own role in supporting the terrorism in the Middle East, the final statement of the summit didn’t mention Iran at all.

Iranian Foreign Spokesperson Bahram Ghasemi said Friday, “despite Washington’s extensive attempts to hold an all-inclusive summit and forge a new alliance against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the number of participants and their low levels of participation, coupled with their reluctance to support any anti-Iran decision… turned the final statement of the summit into a useless document.”

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani made the remark at the start of a Parliament session on Sunday.

“The Pakistani government must answer for [the attack], because this terrorist group devised the attack while on the Pakistani soil,” Larijani said, referring to a terrorist attack on IRGC personnel on Wednesday in Zahedan.

The suicide attack, which targeted a bus carrying Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps personnel, claimed the lives of 27 people and injured dozens of others in southeastern Iran. The so-called Jaish ul-Adl terror group, which is based across the border in Pakistan and is responsible for kidnapping Iranian border guards and carrying out other terrorist attacks of this kind in Zahedan over the past years, claimed responsibility for the Wednesday attack.

Larijani then called on the foreign ministry and security apparatus to follow up in earnest on the issue, saying Pakistan cannot treat this matter with irresponsibility.

“With all due respect for the neighboring Pakistan, these kind of behaviors will severely undermine the level of cooperation between the two countries,” Larijani said.

Elsewhere, Larijani noted the US-organized anti-Iran conference recently held in Warsaw, adding “the hasty move by the US and the Zionist regime in organizing the cheap Warsaw conference revealed their empty hands.”

“All this hype led to nothing more than some repetitive and meaningless speeches, and it just showed that the US is being played in the hands of a terrorist group,” he added.

Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei said unlike the ongoing US-led meeting in the Polish capital of Warsaw, the concurrent summit between Iran, Russia, and Turkey in Sochi is focusing on peace and stability in the Middle East.

The fourth summit of Iran, Russia, and Turkey in Sochi shows the importance of developing regional cooperation in creating peace and stability, Sanaei said on his Twitter account on Thursday.

The American versions of such conferences, like the one happening in Warsaw, have led to nothing except instability and spread of terrorism in the region, he added in his tweet.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Russian and Turkish counterparts, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, plan to meet in Russia’s Sochi later on Thursday to discuss the Syrian issue.

The anti-Iran summit organized by the United States kicked off in Poland on Wednesday.

The Warsaw conference is considered as part of US attempts to heap pressure on Iran globally.

Since withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal last year, the US administration has steadily ratcheted up pressure on Tehran and vowed to increase it until Iran halts what US officials describe as its “malign activities” throughout the Middle East and elsewhere.

As part of its policy of maximum pressure, Washington in early November re-imposed what it called the harshest-ever sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

The meeting has, however, received a cold welcome from Washington’s European allies, which are engaged in a diplomatic process with Tehran aimed at saving the 2015 nuclear deal.

“Turkey’s political participation in such a meeting that targets one country is out of question,” a senior Foreign Ministry official told the Hürriyet Daily News on Feb. 12.

Turkey’s position with regard to this summit is clear. It sees this meeting as against Iran and therefore has decided not to take part in it.

“We are therefore not dispatching any representative to this meeting. Our embassy in Warsaw will follow it.”

This decision is based on Turkey’s principles, the official explained, stressing that its non-participation should be interpreted as the Turkish government’s distance to the US-led initiative.

“In a statement in Cairo during a trip to Egypt, US Secretary of State Pompeo had unearthed the real motive of this initiative. In line with its principles, Turkey has always been against such moves,” said the official.

Russia, Lebanon, Palestine and Qatar also are not attending the Warsaw meeting. The European Union countries which have been critical to Washington’s anti-Iran policies will also be displaying low-level participation.
