T-90 tanks ready to deliver to Iran army

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The Iranian Army is going to equip the armored divisions with a domestically-manufactured version of T-90 tanks which is more advanced than the previous homegrown tanks, a top general said.

Speaking to the state TV on Thursday night, Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari said the Defense Ministry and the Armed Forces have jointly developed an Iranian T-90 tank.

The homegrown tank is much more advanced than the Zolfaqar tank, he noted, saying the Iranian T-90 is undergoing final tests before being delivered to the Army Ground Force.

Pointing to seven new features of the new T-90 tank, the general said it is equipped with a new gun stabilizer and chemical defense systems.

The homegrown tank has turned into a weapon for modern warfare, General Heidari noted, saying the Army Ground Force will take delivery of the first batch of the tanks in the Iranian month of Mehr (September 22 – October 21).

He further pointed to new strategies for employing modern military equipment proportional to the new structure of the Army Ground Force.

The Army Ground Force will start using three new types of machine guns, the commander noted, adding that the Army is also going to replace the G3 rifles with a new battle rifle developed by the Iranian Defense Ministry.

Developing nuclear submarines on agenda

Also on Thursday, the commander of the Iranian Army’s Navy Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said Iran is thinking about manufacturing nuclear submarines.

He underlined that the country’s Defense Ministry has the capability to produce submarines bigger than Fateh.

“None of the international pacts ban using peaceful nuclear energy but when we are talking about peace, it doesn’t find meaning without maintaining defense readiness,” Khanzadi added.

Emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran is in dire need of peaceful nuclear energy, he noted, “There are many threats to our country. Today, if we see the presence of a US aircraft carrier in the region, we should know that it’s propulsion is nuclear and this issue enables it to stay at sea for up to six months”.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Iran Air Force progressive in electronic warfare

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The lieutenant commander of the Iran Air Force for coordination affairs said on Wednesday that his force has recently has made progress in the field of electronic warfare.

Electronic warfare (EW) is any action involving the use of the electromagnetic spectrum (EM spectrum) or directed energy to control the spectrum, attack an enemy, or impede enemy assaults.

Brigadier General Mahdi Hadian said that electronic warfare is among the most important influential techniques and equipment in the reinvigoration of combat might.

He further said, “Iran Air Force has gained important achievements in electronic warfare,” assuring the Iranians about the Air Force’s deterrent power which can counter the enemies’ state-of-art weapons.

Iran has increased its defense power in recent years by developing different types of weapons and equipment.

In March 2019, Commander of the Iranian Air Force Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh and Vice-President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari officially opened the mass-production lines of Kaman-12 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and Akhgar missiles.

In the ceremony, also the first aeronautical center, equipped with laser technology of Launch Services Program (LSP), was inaugurated in Army Aerospace Force Self Sufficiency Jihad Organization (ASF SSJO).

General Nasirzadeh said these achievements were made in sanctions conditions, adding, “This technology is also applicable in the medical industry, energy industry (gas-powered turbines) and also the automotive industry.”

Kaman-12, the first home-made wide-body drone with a jet engine, was unveiled in January 2019 in an exhibition held by Armed Forces in Tehran.

Gen. Safavi warns against hybrid warfare

The top defense advisor to the Leader of Islamic Revolution said on Monday that the enemies do not hesitate in resorting to hybrid warfare, urging the defensive bodies to be prepared and beware of such measures.

Addressing a conference on strategies to counter hybrid warfare in Tehran, General Safavi said in hybrid warfare, the invaders make use of every possible capacity to penetrate and undermine the target country’s intelligence, economic, cultural and social aspects.

Hybrid warfare is a military strategy that employs political warfare and blends conventional warfare, irregular warfare and cyber-warfare with other influencing methods, such as fake news, diplomacy, lawfare and foreign electoral intervention.

The former IRGC chief added that while western countries believe in devising unique strategies for each target in modern hybrid warfare, the players in the defense industry should take every necessary measure to upgrade their capabilities in the same field so as not to suffer irreversible damages.

Referring to Iran’s achievements in the defense industry, he highlighted that military forces are determined to counter enemies’ threats and foil their conspiracies against the Iranian nation.
