TEHRAN (Iran News) Responding to Trump’s war rhetoric against Iran during an event on Sunday, General Mousavi said the remarks of a president, who claims to represent a superpower, are not worthy of a head of state and are reckless.

The top commander continued by asking the question as why does Trump talk about negotiations If he intends to go to war, in a rebuke to the US president’s renewed military threat under the guise of Iran’s nuclear program.

General Mousavi warned, however, that entering into a conflict with Iran would lead to consequences that would prevent Trump from repeating such rhetoric anywhere in the world.

As Iran and the US negotiators recently resumed talks on nuclear and sanctions removal issues in Oman, Trump threatened Iran with strikes if a deal was not reached between Tehran and Washington.

Iran has repeatedly warned the United States, and its regional allies of grave consequences for any military mischief, saying the Islamic Republic is prepared to inflict more crushing defeats on aggressors.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Expressing sympathy with Pakistan over the loss of people in the tragic blast at a railroad station in Quetta, Esmaeil Baqaei said such terrorist measures are not justifiable by any means as they violate all legal and humanitarian norms and principles.

He also reiterated Iran’s strong condemnation of all forms of terrorism and radicalism, stressing that the eradication of such inauspicious phenomenon requires stronger cooperation among all countries at the bilateral, regional and international levels.

Baqaei also expressed Iran’s readiness for closer coordination in the fight against terrorism.

At least 24 people have been killed and more than 40 wounded in the bombing at a railroad station in the capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province.

The explosion on Saturday happened as nearly 100 passengers waited on a platform at about 8:45 am in Quetta for a train to Peshawar, Al Jazeera reported.

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack, saying in a statement that a suicide bomber targeted troops present at the railway station.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif denounced the bombing, saying those who orchestrated the attack “will pay a very heavy price for it”, adding that security forces were determined to eliminate “the menace of terrorism”.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Sheikh Naim Qassim said Hezbollah is determined to force Israel to seek an end to its war on Lebanon, stating that only the battlefield can bring to end the ongoing war.

In his second public address since assuming leadership on Wednesday, Sheikh Qassem said that there is no place within “Israel” that our drones and missiles cannot reach.

He added that Hezbollah did not rely on political efforts to halt the conflict.

“We do not rely on American elections, whether Harris succeeds or Trump wins; this has no value for us.”

Instead, he said, Hezbollah is prepared to shape the outcome through military engagement, Press TV reported.

Qassem also stated that Hezbollah has been preparing for such confrontations since the 2006 July war, enhancing its training, armament, and operational capabilities.

“Through resistance, strength, preparedness, and endurance, we will triumph over Israel,” he declared. “In our lexicon, there is only patience, endurance, and remaining on the field until victory.”

He said the steps taken by Israel aimed at defeating Hezbollah and occupying Lebanon will not succeed due to Hezbollah’s resilience and commitment to defending its homeland.

“We will make the Israeli enemy fully aware that on the battlefield it is losing and not winning; this loss will prevent it from achieving its goals.”

The Lebanese leader said Israel aims to eliminate Hezbollah’s presence and then occupy Lebanon, be it from a distance in the air. The regime, he said, is threatening to make Lebanon another West Bank.

Sheikh Qassem said the regime’s third step would be to work on a map of West Asia.

“These steps were desired by Netanyahu, who began his war on Lebanon to achieve the first step.”

Hezbollah’s secretary-general said the regime has now become confused by significant Resistance operations.

“The Israeli enemy has found that the level of confrontation has been very high; hence it fears engagement and has … announced it has no additional targets because it faced strong resistance.”

The regime, Qassem stated, did not realize it was facing resistant fighters who hold a solid Islamic conviction, making them stand firm with truth and steadfastness towards liberation and dignity.

“On the borders, we have tens of thousands of trained Resistant fighters who can confront and endure.”

Sheikh Qassem said the fighters have dedicated their lives to God; they do not seek worldly gains but understand that their success in the world before the Hereafter lies in resisting the occupation.

He said the strength of the Resistance lies in its will and continuity despite disparities in military capabilities.

“The days are coming; past days were a model, and what is going to come will be even more significant,” Sheikh Qassem said.

He said when the enemy stops its aggression, there is a path for negotiations through the Lebanese government and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, who carries the banner of political resistance.

“The foundation of any negotiation is based on two things: first, stopping the aggression; second, ensuring the full protection of Lebanese sovereignty without compromise.”

In his remarks, Sheikh Qassem paid tribute to the late leader of the movement Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, calling him a model for noble leaders who have walked in God’s path and made great sacrifices.

He noted that Nasrallah resides in the hearts of people across the world as a symbol of Resistance.

“Seyed Hassan Nasrallah is an exemplary leader—an inspiring educator who is courageous and bold; a scholar in the school of Velayat and a banner for Palestinian liberation.”

“The light in his words guides us; his positions put us on the path to a dignified life,” he stated.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, he said, defined Nasrallah as “unparalleled—this is a great definition.”

Sheikh Qassem said Nasrallah built a resilient party encompassing all segments of society—it is a party for young and old, women and men, free people and resistors.

Hezbollah resists against the Israeli enemy while working to help develop the nation within its political reality, he said.

“The resistance in this party is a solid foundation in terms of numbers, strength, specialization, faith, courage, and defiance against even the fiercest enemies,” he said.

“Hezbollah has an organized structure extending across all fields—cultural, political, jihadist, social, educational, and medical; this party has built itself to work effectively,” Qassem stated, referring to the concept of “Jihad” or struggle.

Sheikh Qassem concluded by stating that Nasrallah revived the movement both in life and martyrdom, asserting that his soul and blood continue to bolster the cause

TEHRAN (Iran News) Speaking at a joint press conference with his Pakistani counterpart Muhammad Ishaq Dar, held in Islamabad on Tuesday, Abbas Araqchi stated that Iran, unlike the Israeli regime, is not seeking tensions.

However, Iran will respond to the Zionist regime’s act of aggression in due time, he said, referring to the Israeli attack that took the lives of four Iranian servicemen and a civilian on October 26.

Denouncing the Israeli regime’s genocidal crimes in Gaza and Lebanon, Araqchi bemoaned the fact that the international community has failed to contain the Israeli atrocities.

The Iranian minister also pointed to his discussions with his Pakistani counterpart on regional developments, saying they have emphasized the need to strengthen the political, commercial, cultural and scientific relations between Tehran and Islamabad.

“Terrorism is a challenge in our region. Iran and Pakistan are currently fighting against terrorism. In the meeting, we emphasized the necessity of cooperation between the two countries in the war on terrorism,” Araqchi added.

The Iranian foreign minister has stepped up diplomatic efforts in recent weeks to address the regional conflicts and put an end to the Israeli regime’s crimes in Gaza and Lebanon.

In the past month, he has visited Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Oman, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Bahrain and Kuwait in recent weeks.

Pyongyang threatens to declare war

TEHRAN (Iran News) According to Pyongyang’s state-run news agency KCNA, the UAV was likely used to drop leaflets over the capital. Similar drones were spotted scattering leaflets full of “political propaganda and slander” earlier this month, the outlet said. “North Korean ”

“If a violation of the DPRK’s territorial ground, air and waters by ROK’s military means is discovered and confirmed again, it will be regarded as a grave military provocation against the sovereignty of the DPRK and a declaration of war and an immediate retaliatory attack will be launched,” KCNA warned, as quoted by Reuters.

Kim Yo-jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and a top government official, claimed on Thursday that Pyongyang had “clear evidence” that the South had violated the North’s airspace.

South Korea has refused to confirm whether its drones have crossed the border. Joint Chiefs of Staff spokesman Colonel Lee Sung-jun told reporters this week that the matter was “something that should be clarified by North Korea.”

Pyongyang has engaged in hostile rhetoric in recent months, accusing its southern neighbor of “provocations.” This week, North Korea blew up sections of roads leading to South Korea, and vowed to “completely separate” the two countries and transform the border area into “an eternal fortress.”

In January, Kim Jong-un proposed abandoning the longstanding commitment to reunification, and labeled South Korea a “principal enemy.”

The tensions mark a contrast to a series of friendly gestures in the late 2010s when then US President Donald Trump sought to de-escalate the situation on the Korean peninsula. However, a meeting between Trump and Kim in Hanoi in 2019 ended in failure, with both sides accusing each other of making unrealistic demands. Pyongyang has since ramped up missile tests, while the US has launched more joint military drills with South Korea.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Speaking at a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart during a visit to Baghdad on Sunday, Araqchi said Iran opposes an outbreak of war or deterioration of tensions in the region.

“However, we are prepared for any circumstances. We are ready for war and for peace. We are favoring peace and pushing for peace in Gaza and Lebanon,” he said.

Pointing to the serious challenges the region is facing and warning about the alarming regional situation, Araqchi stressed the need for closer consultations among the friends.

“The region is in a state of alarm, and the likelihood of an outbreak of clashes is very high, which is rooted in the Zionist regime’s crimes,” he noted, warning of the spread of the crisis to the other countries of the region.

It is necessary to deal with the Israeli regime’s acts of aggression in order to stop the war imposed on the people of Gaza and Lebanon, Araqchi stated.

The foreign minister noted that he has held very good consultations with the Iraqi officials. “The Zionist crimes must end and a ceasefire must be established. We decided, together with Iraq, to consult in this regard and push for a ceasefire (in Gaza).”

He also praised Iraq for declaring that it won’t allow its airspace to be used for an attack against Iran.

For his part, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein called for collective action to halt the Israeli war on Gaza and Lebanon.

Denouncing the Israeli regime’s threats against Iran and Iraq, Hussein stressed that his country will not turn into a battlefield.

He underscored that Iraq’s airspace will be excluded from any possible war, saying, “The outbreak of war in the region will result in instability and lack of peace.”

The Iraqi foreign minister warned that a war will lead to chaos and enable groups like Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) to resume terrorist attacks.

TEHRAN (Iran News) He made the remarks on Monday while addressing Iranian and foreign reporters during his first press conference since he took office late August.

“We are not in conflict with anyone,” the Iranian president stated.

He said that his administration will negotiate with the West on contentious issues and expand relations with neighboring countries to improve the economy and achieve long-term objectives, Press TV reported.

However, he added that the United States first needs to prove it is prepared to negotiate in good faith and is committed to its international obligations. The president noted that so far the Americans have “closed all avenues to us.”

Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran is committed to the agreements it signed with the US and Europe. “We do not seek atomic weapons, but they (the West) are threatening us and say Iran should not possess any missile.”

He said Iran will pursue every possible path leading to the removal of obstacles.

At the first step, the president said, Iran will create common views and language with its neighboring countries to establish a region full of peace and tranquility.

It is the foreign powers which are hindering the establishment of peace in the region by creating economic, cultural and ethnic conflicts, Pezeshkian said.

He underscored the need for Iran to remain strong, saying, “We need defense power to maintain security of our people and country.”

He said Iran’s cooperation with regional countries via connecting corridors can improve the access of Iran and China to the respective markets through the Silk Road.

The Iranian president described China as a “strategic” partner and vowed to further develop ties between the two countries.

The Iranian president said his attendance at the 2024 meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in New York will be “to defend the rights of our people because we do favor peace and not war.”

Asked about the possibility of his meeting with the US president, Pezeshkian said the United States must prove its sincerity in practice. The Iranian president said Tehran should see whether or not Washington is committed to its obligations.

“Americans must show that they are not hostile to us. We did not set up bases around their country and did not impose sanctions on them. Rather, we are brothers with the American people,” Pezeshkian stated.

The Iranian president further slammed the West’s inaction toward Israel’s barbarism in Gaza and urged the international community not to allow one group, backed by super powers, to kill innocent people.

He also reaffirmed the need to settle differences between Iran and Saudi Arabia and said he welcomes any measure which will bring the two Muslim countries closer together.

Muslims must foster unity to make the Israeli regime understand that it has no right to kill children, women and the elderly, the Iranian president said. “If we join hands, Israel will not dare to do this.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) –The top advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, has said that the West’s foundations have crumbled amid the Gaza war, leading to widespread distrust of their dishonesty.

Speaking in a meeting on science and technology, Rahim Safavi pointed out that for nearly 300 years, Western nations have touted media freedom and equality, but their deceit has eroded public confidence in their words.

He went on to say, “What has occurred is unprecedented, and the future will be unlike anything we’ve seen before.”

The advisor was referring to the Israeli war on Gaza.

The advisor stressed the importance of monitoring global developments and drawing on the experiences of the Sacred Defense era to strive for an ideal situation in the future, as we are witnessing a shift in the new world order.

Referring to the Sacred Defense, he added that though 34 years have passed from that time (the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s), there are still many unknown dimensions that should be analyzed.

In the next step, according to the top advisor, the analysis should turn to lessons at strategic and tactical levels.

He reiterated that we should prepare ourselves with all-round defense against all kinds of threats against Iran.

In the final step, he emphasized the need for a comprehensive defense strategy against all threats facing Iran and called for sharing knowledge gained from the Sacred Defense with the resistance front, as resistance is integral to “strategic defense.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) –The Iran-Iraq war, also known as the Sacred Defense, was a brutal conflict that took place between the two countries from 1980 to 1988. The war had a profound impact on both countries, resulting in significant loss of life, economic devastation, and social upheaval.

With its immense human toll and lasting impact, Iran-Iraq war remains a significant chapter in the history of both nations. It serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the Iranian people.

Preserving the history of this war is essential to ensure that its lessons, experiences, and consequences are not forgotten. In this regard, filmmaking plays a vital role in capturing and preserving the history of the war, allowing future generations to understand the complexities and human impact of this conflict.

War dramas can effectively depict the atmosphere, emotions, and intricacies of conflict by portraying the personal stories and experiences of those involved. The visual medium allows for a more engaging experience, immersing the audience into the characters and events depicted on screen.

Female filmmakers and male filmmakers often bring different perspectives to war dramas, influenced by their life experiences, social roles, and artistic sensibilities. These distinct viewpoints contribute to a richer and more diverse range of narratives and interpretations in this genre.

In the post-war era, female filmmakers have played a crucial role in documenting the history of the conflict. Through their empathetic storytelling and unique perspectives, these filmmakers have contributed to a greater understanding of the human impact of war.

By highlighting the experiences and perspectives of the often-overlooked voices of women, they have enriched the audience’s understanding of this subject, preserving the memories and lessons of turbulent times for future generations.

Two Iranian female directors who have made significant contributions in this area are Narges Abyar and Monir Qeidi.

Narges Abyar and “Track 143”

Narges Abyar, a prominent Iranian filmmaker, has made significant contributions to exploring important issues within Iranian society through her films.

Her film “Track 143,” adapted from Abyar’s own book of the same title, delves into the theme of maternal sacrifice during the Iran-Iraq war. The story revolves around Olfat, a mother anxiously awaiting the return of her son, who has gone missing in action.

In contrast to war dramas that often highlight the conflict itself and the soldiers directly involved, “Track 143” takes a different approach by centering on a single mother anxiously awaiting her son’s return.

Unlike traditional war films with grand battle scenes, this movie deliberately avoids depicting the war directly. Instead, the audience shares in the mother’s experience by hearing war news through a radio she carries on her waist, providing a firsthand account of the events happening on the warfront.

This unique perspective offers a more intimate and personal exploration of the emotional toll and uncertainty faced by families affected by war.

At first glance, this concept may seem suited for a short film production. The main character’s path to her objective appears obstacle-free, as she only waits and makes futile attempts without committing any significant actions.

The supplementary subplots employed by the filmmaker do not contribute to the character development and subplot of the story. For instance, the character of the reporter researching the martyrs, and a team searching for their remains, represents one of these subplots.

However, this subplot fails to create a compelling dramatic character or establish a clear objective for the story. Consequently, the mother’s character remains the major character of the story, which serves as a prominent feature of the film’s strength.

The movie director intentionally steers clear of minor characters and the camera relentlessly follows the protagonist. The director disregards the life and future prospects of the martyr’s sister. The plot fails to delve into crucial subjects such as the challenges that the sister must overcome and her aspirations of getting married and having children. The characters’ roles exist solely in relation to the mother and her situation.

The true essence of “Track 143” lies in its ability to evoke powerful emotions, which sets it apart as a feature film. Throughout the story, the film revolves around the mother’s emotional journey, skillfully utilizing visual elements to express the depth of her experiences. Rather than relying on extensive dialogue or action, the film captures the mother’s inner turmoil through poignant imagery, allowing the audience to intimately connect with her emotions.

This emphasis on emotional storytelling elevates “Track 143” from a mere short film concept to a captivating feature that leaves a profound impact on viewers.

An example of the film’s clever use of visual storytelling to evoke emotions is seen in the scenes depicting the mother’s presence at the cement factory.

As she desperately seeks information about her missing son, the machines and imposing rollers within the factory symbolize her futile and agonizing efforts. The crushing of stones by these mechanical giants serves as a representation of the character’s fruitless and painful struggle.

This intelligent use of imagery effectively conveys the mother’s emotional journey to the audience, leaving a lasting impression of her overwhelming and desperate quest.

In the scene where the mother visits the house of a war prisoner who has returned to the country, another intelligent use of visual imagery is evident. Despite her desperate hope for information about her missing son, she is met with disappointment as the man is unable to provide any answers. Immediately following this scene, powerful explosions shake the ground, symbolizing the mother’s heartbreak and the deep emotional wounds she carries.

“Track 143” skillfully employs long and extreme long shots to portray the mother’s sense of confinement in both time and place. The filmmaker deliberately eliminates any elements that could distract from showcasing the mother’s overwhelming loneliness and longing, ensuring that every aspect of the film serves to express her innermost feelings.

One of the most powerful scenes in the film occurs in its final moments. After years of agonizing waiting, all that remains of her son’s body are a few bones. Yet, these precious fragments are tenderly returned to the mother, cradled in her arms as if her son is reborn anew.

This scene serves as a profound and emotional culmination, encapsulating the mother’s unwavering love and the bittersweet resolution of her long and painful journey.

The impact of this moment leaves a lasting impression on the audience, evoking a deep sense of both heartache and hope.

The film garnered critical acclaim and received numerous awards, showcasing Abyar’s ability to capture the human side of war.

The movie brought Merila Zarei a Crystal Simorgh for best actress at the 32nd Fajr Film Festival in February 2014 for her portrayal of Olfat.
