The meeting was aimed at raising the problems of Iranian businessmen for trade with Russia and resolving the problems and maximum use of existing capacities for improving the level of bilateral trade.

Speaking in the meeting, Hadi Tizhoush Taban, the head of Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce, underlined the need for making use of the potentials of an Iranian trade center in Astrakhan.

Easing visa requirements and electroncization of origin certificate issuing systems were two main demands of the Iranian side.

Russian Ambassador to Iran Alexey Dedov said that his country may remove visa requirements for tourist travels by Iranians in the near future.

The Russian ambassador, for his part, said that efforts are underway to remove the obstacles on the way of trade relations between the two countries which he said require more meetings and consultations between officials from both sides.

Dedov said that his country is likely to remove visa requirements for tourist travels by Iranians in the near future.

Noting that some truck drivers criticize about the conditions surrounding some customs terminals, the ambassador proposed that Iran and Russia should have representatives in customs terminals of each other to help resolve the problems.

Meanwhile in the meeting, vice-chairman of the chamber pointed to the expanded relation between the governments of Iran and Russia and said that despite strong political relations, both sides have not used all capacities in the field of economy to balance economic relation with political relation.

Abdollah Mahaje Darabi then pointed to the interests of northern provinces of Ira for increasing trade relation with Russian cities, adding that Russian Ambassador as the representative of his country can take serious steps for improving the current level of trade and joint investment.

He added that unfortunately there are still concerns about issuing visas for Iranian traders which can be solved but its materialization needs planning.

He announced readiness of the chamber for cooperating with Russian Embassy for resolving the challenges. He reiterated that if the challenges and hurdles are removed, economic activists of both countries can continue the path of growth in trade exchanges and joint cooperation.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –The caretaker of international affairs department of Iran chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Ms. Homeira Asadi in meeting with the Commercial Attache of Embassy of the Netherlands said that easing visa issuance for the businessmen who are introduced by the chamber will help the trade between the two countries to boost.

In the meeting, both sides explored ways for boosting bilateral trade and easing visa process was mentioned as one way for enhancing trade between the two countries.

Asadi said that ICCIMA is keen to expand its trade relation with key countries and in this line they can cooperate with the Netherlands in the humanitarian fields. She added that increasing traders in the markets of both countries, acquaintance of traders with capacities and potentials of Iran and the Netherlands, holding webinar in collaboration with the embassies of both sides and the joint chamber of commerce should be prioritized.

Reacting to the anti-Iran media propagation, Asadi said that ICCIMA wants to introduce the potentials and capacities of Iran in cooperation with the Iran-Netherlands Joint Chamber and to hold specialized meetings with presence of specialized unions and groups.

Then Dutch Commercial Attache Mr. Paulsen, for his part, said that in case Iranian businessmen get valid invitations from the Dutch companies and completing the required documents, letter of introduction by the ICCIMA will ease visa process for them.

He added that despite attraction of Iran market, the trade volume of Iran and the Netherlands has declined in the past three years and companies just are working to maintain their positions, adding that they have long been waiting for positive changes and he is sure that in case of change in the current condition, the Dutch companies will return to Iran.

He added that Europe’s sanctions are limited but the U.S. sanctions are effective because all Dutch banks are present in the U.S. and there is a financial problem for the Dutch in Iran. He then pointed to holding exhibitions in the fields of water treatment, agriculture and other fields by the Dutch companies but unfortunately they were not welcomed by Iranian counterparts.

Then Chairman of Iran-Netherlands Joint Chamber Mr. Shahin Sheisi, for his part, blamed the fluctuation in the forex rate and its high cost as the main reason for lack of enthusiasm for partaking in those exhibitions by Iranians and added that despite such problems, both sides should keep the doors for trade open by holding webinars and B2B meetings in order that both countries can expand trade in the future.

He then called for preparing a roadmap for cooperation between Iran and the Netherlands which was welcomed by the Dutch diplomat.

Meanwhile head of Europe Office of the ICCIMA Farkhondehnejad stresses easing the visa process for Iranian traders and called it an effective way for enhancing the trade between the two states.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Mr. Gholam-Hossein Shafei during meeting with visiting Chairman of the Board of the German Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade (BWA) Michael Schumann on Sunday called for easing visa issuance for Iranian traders and called it the major step for broadening economic ties.

In this meeting, Shafei criticized German government’s restrictions on issuing visa for Iranian businessmen, saying that facilitation of visa issuance is a prerequisite for the expansion of trade ties between the two countries, the ICCIMA portal reported.

Stating that Germany has always been Iran’s first trade partner in Europe, the ICCIMA head said: “After the nuclear deal, Germany was the first country to restart relations with Iran and the volume of trade between the two sides increased by 60 percent in a short time. But after the withdrawal of the U.S. from the JCPOA, the volume of economic exchanges between Iran and Germany decreased by 50 percent.”

He further praised Germany’s efforts for maintaining economic ties with the Islamic Republic and said: “I hope your visit can help activate the commercial capacities of both sides further. Especially with the new situation and the war in Ukraine, cooperation between Iran and Germany can have good results for our region and Europe.”

Shafei further pointed to the automotive, agriculture, and education sectors as attractive fields for cooperation between the two sides, saying:” We are becoming the hub of automobile manufacturing in the region and we need new technologies in agriculture due to droughts and limited water resources.”

The official noted that ICCIMA is seeking to establish an office in Germany, adding “We are doing our best to increase the volume of trade with Germany. Fortunately, the conditions are better than in the past and it is possible for the delegations to meet in person. I hope that the next meeting of the two countries’ joint economic committee will be held as soon as possible to help the development of trade between the two sides.”

Shafei then reiterated that ICCIMA ready for hosting German trade delegations or dispatching Iranian delegations, adding that exchange of trade delegation can help the ties between the two states come closer.

He reiterated that banking problem on way of broadening trade ties is considered a serious hurdle but he is sure that private sectors of the two countries can find ways to overcome it.

Schumann for his part stated that currently, 1,300 people from different companies and research institutes in Germany are members of BWA, saying: “Our goal is to find emerging markets across the globe. This association helps German companies to find business partners in the world and supports international companies to operate in Germany.”

He noted that one of the important points in activities of BWA is good and full cognizance of trade partners, adding that he believes with in-person meetings and direct talks, capabilities of both sides can be revealed and for this reason he is in Tehran.

Schuman then pointed to the broad historic relations between Iran and Germany and said that unfortunately there is currently a negative picture of Iran among the Germans and it is because of the political and media efforts and one of the goal of visiting Iran is to change this negative picture which has happened because of lack of knowing Iran.

He stated that they were recommended not to visit Tehran due to security issues but now they are in Tehran and in full security and witnessing good hospitability of Iranians and will take back this experience to Germany.

He admitted that Iran and Germany can expand their economic cooperation but because of lack of knowing capacities of Iran, this has not happened. He reiterated that economy can pave the way for restoring ties and broadening it among the nations.

Schuman then invited Iranian companies to attend the Caspian-Europe event in Germany on October 10-11 which will be in the fields of mining and energy, adding that Germany on October 5 will also hold a conference on auto industry.

In a bid to boost tourism to the country, South Africa’s home affairs minister Aaron Motsoaledi has announced visa-free travel for 11 countries.

In a media briefing, the minister said the visa-free status of citizens of some countries and territories was temporarily suspended at the start of the lockdown period, Travel Daily Media reported on Tuesday.

“In line with the commitment of the government to take urgent steps to address the economic and tourism stagnation brought about by the outbreak of COVID-19, the visa-free status of citizens from a number of countries and territories has been reinstated,” Motsoaledi said.

The countries include South Korea, Spain, Italy, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, US, UK, France, Portugal, and Iran. However, the minister said that visa-free status does not alter the current COVID-19 regulations.

The minister also said he has instructed officials to communicate this decision to the aviation industry, embassies, and other stakeholders as a matter of urgency. “The port managers have been instructed to adhere to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) protocol and guidelines regulating the movement of essential goods under COVID-19 regulations. “The guidelines regulating truck drivers traveling across the border will continue to apply as has been the case for the past seven months,” he said.

The minister said that immigration officers will be required to assess the movement and place of origin of the traveler and not the country of origin of the airline concerned.

“Transit travelers through South Africa by air will be allowed to connect to their destinations, subject to them complying with applicable health protocols but need not produce the 72 hours negative certificate.”

Motsoaledi said that any person from a country listed as having a high COVID-19 infection and transmission rate, who wish to undertake business travel into South Africa, may, in writing, apply to the Department of Home Affairs and demonstrate reasons for their request to enter the country for business purposes during the period of the national state of disaster.
