TEHRAN (Iran News) The Qatari finance minister said in the meeting with Hemati that his country attaches great importance to its relations with Iran, adding that Iran has valuable experiences in various fields especially in financial issues.

He expressed hope that the Iran-Qatar joint committee will be activated in the near future following an upcoming visit of the Iranian president to Qatar, IRNA reported.

During the meeting between Iran’s economy minister and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Jamshid Anwar Kuchkarov, the two sides emphasized implementing the agreements inked by Tehran and Tashkent.

Solving the monetary and banking problems between the two countries, developing the transit ties between Iran and Uzbekistan and boosting the value of trade by $1 billion were among the topics discussed by the Iranian and Uzbek finance ministers.

In the meeting held in Tehran on Tuesday, Zarif hailed bilateral relations between the Islamic Republic and Uzbekistan and stressed the need to boost the ties in all spheres.

Kamilov said that Uzbekistan’s top ministers are accompanying him in his visit to Iran due to the importance the Central Asian country attaches to its relations with the Islamic Republic.

The two sides discussed closer cooperation between Tehran and Tashkent in diverse areas, ranging from oil and gas, tourism, consular affairs, engineering, agriculture and automotive to combating terrorism and extremism.

The meeting comes against the backdrop of a new wave of interest in ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran’s nuclear program and started implementing it on January 16, 2016.

The comprehensive nuclear deal, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), terminated all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran.
