Moscow to Trade with Tehran Despite US Threats

TEHRAN (Iran News) – A senior Russian diplomat says Moscow will continue doing business with Tehran despite the US threats, calling on Washington to stop its “pointless endeavor to play the world’s policeman”.

“Wrong approach again. The US playing a “world policeman”, substituting UN Security Council is an unwelcome role,” Dmitry Polyanskiy, the first deputy permanent representative of Russia to the UN, tweeted on Monday.

“Moscow doing and will be doing business with Tehran and it’s not up to US to tell us or others what they can or can’t do. Stop humiliating US in this pointless endeavor!” the diplomat added.

His tweet came in response to a tweet by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who claimed earlier that the US was “sanctioning mainland-China and Hong Kong entities and individuals for conduct related to the sanctioned proliferator the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines.”

Pompeo also claimed, “Our warning is clear: If you do business with IRISL or its subsidiaries, you risk US sanctions.”

Back in June, the United States activated a set of sanctions it imposed on Iran’s shipping network in a move expected to further hamper imports of food and medical supplies into Iran at a time when the country is fighting to contain a deadly coronavirus outbreak.

Iran’s Navy Commander Warns US against Threat

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The commander of Iran’s Navy has warned the United States against any possible threat to Iranian vessels in the Persian Gulf, saying Tehran will give a crushing response to such an aggressive move.

“Today, an aircraft carrier, two cruisers and a number of destroyers are in the Persian Gulf. They are close to us and, if needed, we will definitely put them in the crosshairs,” Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi told Press TV in an exclusive interview on Monday.

“The US warships do not dare get closer to Iran’s territorial waters.”

The Iranian commander said the presence of US forces in the Persian Gulf was a “cause of tensions and insecurity in the region.”

Washington, he added, was seeking to create tensions in order to sell arms to regional states.

Khanzadi also noted that Iran has gained valuable experience from the Iraqi imposed war and the country’s 1980-88 Sacred Defense, and has employed it to establish security in the regional waters.

Stressing that Iran is now capable of defending itself in electronic warfare, the commander said the country’s indigenously-built long-range missiles can easily target enemy positions, but what the Islamic Republic is after is a peaceful Persian Gulf.

Iran’s Navy Commander said Iran has established good naval relations with its neighbors and seeks to maintain peace and security in the region.

Tensions in the strategic waterway rose substantially last summer after a series of mysterious explosions targeted a number of oil tankers.

The United States, quickly blaming Iran for the incidents without providing firm evidence, along with other countries such as Saudi Arabia has since deployed thousands of troops and military equipment to the region.

Washington threatens cause they fear: IRGC deputy

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said that Washington bodies fear that Iran’s response to the assassination of its top commander would be harsh.

“Threats made by Washington are out of their fear as they are afraid of Resistance Axis’ response to martyrdom of Gen. Soleimani and his companions,” Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi told IRNA on Monday while millions of Iranians have flooded Tehran’s streets to pay homage to Gen. Soleimani and other martyrs of resistance who were assassinated by US terrorist forces on Friday.

Fadavi went on to say that “American psychological operations have no influence on us and we will give appropriate response according to the order of Quran and Islam.”

Trump has threatened Iran with targeting 52 cites, including cultural ones, in case Iran retaliates for the assassination of Gen. Soleimani.

Earlier today, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House will introduce and vote on a war powers resolution this week to limit US President Donald Trump’s military actions regarding Iran.

“This resolution is similar to the resolution introduced by Senator Tim Kaine in the Senate,” Nancy Pelosi said in a statement late on Sunday.

“It reasserts Congress’s long-established oversight responsibilities by mandating that if no further Congressional action is taken, the Administration’s military hostilities with regard to Iran cease within 30 days.”
