TEHRAN (Iran News) – Members of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament have censured the recent US-brokered normalization of ties between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain with the Zionist regime of Israel.

The Iranian lawmakers made the announcement in a meeting held on Sunday with the participation of the representatives of the Islamic Resistance groups, Spokesman of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Abolfazl Amouei told Mehr News Agency (MNA).

He added that normalization of the two Persian Gulf’s littoral states relations with Israel was the main topic of the Iranian Parliament’s Sunday agenda.

The meeting was attended by Khaled al-Qaddoumi, the Hamas representative in Tehran; Naser Abu Sharif, Head of the Islamic Jihad Movement Bureau in Tehran; Salah Fahas, representative of Amal (Hope) Islamic Movement; and Abdallah Safi Al Din, Hezbollah’s representative in Tehran.

Representatives of the Islamic Resistance groups believed that the US-brokered normalization of ties between UAE, Bahrain and the Zionist regime will have nothing but hatred for the rulers of those governments.

Bahrain and the UAE signed official agreements at the White House on Tuesday enabling full normalization of their relations with Israel. The deals had been announced by Trump earlier, in September and August.

The deals were signed between Emirati and Bahraini foreign ministers, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump penned his blessing into the accords.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif described the US president’s move to broker peace deals between Israel and certain Persian Gulf Arab states as an election propaganda.

“@realDonaldTrump desperately needed a campaign photo. His son-in-law blackmailed their regional clients into giving him one,” the top Iranian diplomat tweeted on Monday.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Rouhani said that Israel is “committing more crimes in Palestine every day,” AFP reported.

“Some of the region’s countries, their people, are pious Muslims but their rulers neither understand religion nor [their] debt … to the nation of Palestine, to their brothers speaking their language,” he said in televised remarks.

“How could you reach out your hands to Israel? And then you want to give them bases in the region? All the severe consequences that would arise from this are on you.”

The remarks came a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the foreign ministers of the UAE and Bahrain signed agreements establishing full diplomatic ties at a ceremony at the White House.

US President Donald Trump said similar Washington-brokered deals were close between Israel and several Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia.

Iran had previously warned Bahrain that its deal made it a partner to Israel’s “crimes” and slammed the UAE for “betraying” the Muslim world.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – President Mahmoud Abbas slammed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) — which long portrayed itself as an advocate of the Palestinian cause — for “stabbing the Palestinian nation in the back” by making peace with Israel, warning other Arab countries not to follow in Abu Dhabi’s footsteps.

He made the remarks at a meeting of the Palestinian leadership in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Tuesday night, which was also attended by representatives of different Palestinian factions, including the Gaza-based resistance groups of Islamic Jihad and Hamas, Press TV reported.

Abbas condemned the UAE’s decision to normalize ties with Israel was a “stab in the back of the Palestinian people.”

He reminded the Arab countries that based on the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative any Israeli normalization should come after an agreement is reached between the Palestinians and Tel Aviv, and not the other way around.

“Some countries have begun moving, both openly and in secret…this is rejected, and we the Palestinians will continue to absolutely reject this, no matter which country does this. You must respect the decisions on which you have signed off,” he said.

Last week, Israel and the UAE announced in a joint statement, issued by the White House, that they had agreed to the full normalization of relations, sparking anger among Palestinians and other supporters of the Palestinian cause against Israeli occupation.

Upon a request by US President Donald Trump, it claimed, Israel “will suspend declaring sovereignty” over parts of the occupied West Bank.

Abbas delivered the warning after media reports, citing experts, speculated that Bahrain was likely to toe the UAE line in normalizing ties with Israel.

On Tuesday, Israeli media also cited Sudanese government sources as announcing an “impending” normalization agreement with Tel Aviv. Sudan’s acting foreign minister, however, denied knowledge of such talks with Israel.

‘Deceiving’ Palestinians

The Palestinian president accused the UAE of turning its back on Palestinians while trying to justify the deal with Israel by arguing it helped stop West bank annexations.

“They added the term annexation and attempted to give the others and the world the illusion that the UAE had come up with a great achievement for us and that is the rejection of annexation as if the Palestinian issue is only about annexation while they disregard everything else – the rights of the Palestinian people, the Palestinian state, the two-state vision, holy Al-Quds… This is deception, and this is totally unacceptable. We consider it a stab in the back of the Palestinian cause,” he emphasized.

Abbas also stressed that only the Palestinians have the right to speak on the Palestine issue.

“You cannot can take our place… Palestine speaks in its own name. She is who will say ‘yes’ or ‘no’. You [are] not responsible for the Palestinian cause, we alone, the Palestinians here, will speak on behalf of the Palestinian cause,” he said.

Abbas further said Palestinians were not concerned about the normalization agreement between Israel and the UAE, referring to the accord as “nonsense.”

“We aren’t worried about the nonsense that happens here and there and especially in recent days, when a trilateral agreement between the Emirates, Israel and America was announced,” he said.

Gaza rally

Hundreds of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday rallied against the US-brokered deal to normalize ties between Israel and the UAE.

Protesters burned Israeli and American flags, trampled on posters of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump, and chanted “normalization is betrayal to Al-Quds and Palestine”, AP reported.

The demonstrators in Gaza City also voiced support for Abbas for his rejection of Trump’s Mideast plan, which the Palestinians say unfairly favors Israel.

The protest was organized by the Hamas resistance group, which governs the Gaza Strip, and other factions.

Khalil al-Hayya, a senior Hamas official, denounced the Israeli-Emirati deal.

“Normalization with the occupation harms us and doesn’t serve us,” he said. “Instead, it serves and promotes the occupation in its projects that target Palestine and the region.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The (Persian) Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) reacted with outrage to Iran’s strong opposition to a recent deal between the UAE and Israel to normalize relations.

In a statement on Sunday, the regional grouping’s Secretary-General Nayef Falah Mubarak al-Hajraf alleged that the position adopted by various Iranian officials, including President Hassan Rouhani, amounted to a “threat”.

Such remarks, Hajraf claimed, served to foment instability and insecurity in the Persian Gulf region and ran counter to the standing diplomatic customs, according to Press TV.

The UAE and Israel announced the deal that laid the groundwork for the full normalization of their relations on Thursday.

The agreement was met with uniform condemnation of all Palestinian factions, who called it a stab in the back of the Palestinians and sheer betrayal of their cause.

The Emirati Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, summoned Iran’s charge d’affaires in Abu Dhabi in reaction to the Iranian president’s remarks, which it alleged amounted to “interference” in the UAE’s internal affairs and an ”assault” on its sovereignty, the Emirates’ official WAM news agency reported.

The Iranian envoy was served with a “strongly-worded memo” over the “unacceptable” and “inflammatory” remarks, echoing the GCC’s allegations that Rouhani’s words carried “serious repercussions” for the security and stability of the Persian Gulf region, the agency added, citing the ministry.

Lambasting the move, President Rouhani warned Abu Dhabi about the consequences of allowing the Israel regime to secure a foothold in the region and wield influence.

He said Emirati rulers had taken a wrong path to think that their security and economic growth would be ensured if they sided with the United States and the Israeli regime, similarly denouncing the deal as a betrayal of the Palestinian cause.

Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said normalization between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv served to further galvanize regional people against the occupying regime, thus bringing its ultimate disintegration closer.

The PGCC official suggested though that by assuming such stances, the Islamic Republic was avoiding a “peaceful” resolution of the existing differences with its fellow Persian Gulf littoral states, and neglecting the principles of good-neighborliness.

Tehran has repeatedly expressed readiness for participation in a dialog aimed at ironing out the differences.

It, however, has cautioned against foreign meddling, including by the US and its allies, asserting that the region’s problems have to be sorted out by its own members. Tehran has invited the regional states to join their efforts to ensure security without any foreign interference.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Global reactions to the recent UAE-Israel deal continue with condemnations pouring in from Islamic countries.

The secretary-general of Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah condemned the deal on Friday, saying that certain Arab regimes heed US diktats to normalize ties with the Israeli regime, calling for the termination of such ties, which he said would end in failure if kept in place, Tasnim News Agency reported.

“We weren’t surprised by the UAE’s decision, as various forms of Israeli-UAE normalization and cooperation were already underway for a long time,” Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said, adding, “Trump has already milked the Persian Gulf states financially, religiously and morally just to serve his friend, (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu.”

The deal between the UAE and Israel was announced on Thursday. US President Donald Trump, who apparently helped broker the deal, has attempted to paint it as a big breakthrough.

But the Palestinians have utterly rejected the deal.

‘Aggression’ against Palestinians

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas referred to the deal as an “aggression” against the Palestinian people and a “betrayal” of their cause. The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas described it as “a stab in the back of the Palestinian cause.” And Palestinian people staged protests against the deal in the occupied West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip on Friday.

The Emirates is now the third Arab country, after Egypt and Jordan, to normalize with Israel. Abu Dhabi was already believed to have clandestine relations with Tel Aviv, according to Press TV.

Turkey’s threat

Ankara also condemned the deal as an act of treachery.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan harshly criticized the UAE for its deal with Israel, saying he is considering breaking off all diplomatic ties with the UAE.

Erdogan’s criticism came as most Arab nations have historically refrained from maintaining formal diplomatic relations with Tel Aviv in protest against its occupation of Palestine, Aljazeera reported.

Turkey said history and the collective conscience of people in the Middle East will not forget and never forgive the “hypocritical behavior” of the UAE in agreeing to normalize ties with Israel.

Israel and the UAE reached an agreement – brokered by the United States – to work towards a “full normalization of relations” – a deal the Palestinians called a “treacherous stab in the back”.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Friday the Palestinian people and administration were right to react strongly against the deal.

“The UAE, which is pursuing secret ambitions over a US plan that is stillborn, null and void, ignores the willpower of Palestine,” said a ministry statement.

Turkey expressed serious concern over the UAE’s aim to unilaterally abolish the 2002 Arab Peace Plan, which envisioned a normalization of relations between the Arab world and Israel in exchange for a full withdrawal by Israel from the occupied Palestinian territories.

“With that being the case, there is no credibility in presenting the trilateral declaration (between the US, UAE, and Israel) as a support to the Palestinian cause.”

The UAE administration “has no authority to negotiate with Israel on behalf of Palestine without consent from its people and administration regarding vital matters”, the ministry said.

“Neither history nor the collective conscience of the region will ever forget and forgive the hypocritical behavior of the UAE, which is trying to depict the deal as a sacrifice for Palestine when in reality it is a betrayal to the Palestinian cause for its own narrow interests.”

Under the UAE-Israel agreement, Israel said it agreed to “delay” the annexation of Palestinian lands in the occupied West Bank, but the plan “remains on the table”.

The surprise deal was the product of lengthy discussions between Israel, the UAE, and the US that accelerated recently, the White House said.

‘Great betrayal’

Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement has also decried the deal as a “great betrayal” of the Palestinian cause.

In a statement issued on Friday, Ansarullah’s political bureau said the exposure of the UAE-Israel relations proved the emptiness of all the pan-Arabist slogans raised by the Saudi-led coalition in waging war on Yemen, Press TV reported.

The statement added that the UAE was continuing to move forward on the wrong path of serving American and Israeli interests against the Muslim Ummah, referring to the Emirates’ participation in the Saudi-led war on Yemen, which began in March 2015 and has left tens of thousands of people killed.

Ansarullah dismissed assertions that normalization with the Israeli regime would lead to the establishment of peace and stability in the region as “mere delusions.”

It also called for isolating any regime that announces normalization with Israel and boycotting it economically and commercially, stressing that Arab and Muslim peoples were able to do a lot to help Palestine.

Jordan’s stance

Jordan said the outcome of the agreement would depend on Israel’s actions, including its stance on “a two-state solution” with the Palestinians, AFP reported.

Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi said: “the impact of the deal on peace efforts is linked to the actions Israel will take”.

Saudi Arabia, a close US ally, has remained eerily quiet on news of the accord.
