Iran Rejects U.S. Claims About Its Nuclear Program, Calling Them “Big Lies”

TEHRAN (Iran News) Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei responded to statements by U.S. officials and Western media outlets on his official account on the social media platform X (social media platform).

Baghaei wrote that professional liars specialize in creating “false realities,” adding that repeating a lie often enough can make it appear like the truth. He referenced the historical propaganda principle attributed to Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi-era German Minister of Information and advisor to Adolf Hitler, stating that the slogan “repeat a lie until it appears true” was widely used in propaganda.

He further stated that this principle is now systematically employed by the U.S. government and its “war-mongering circles,” particularly the “genocidal regime of Israel,” to promote what he described as a malicious campaign of spreading false information against the Iranian nation.

The spokesman emphasized that claims concerning Iran’s nuclear program, alleged intercontinental ballistic missiles, and the number of casualties during the January unrest were nothing but repeated major falsehoods. He urged the public not to be deceived by such allegations.

The remarks came after U.S. President Donald Trump, in his first official address titled “State of the Union” during his second presidential term, reiterated criticism of Iran.

Trump claimed that Iran had developed missiles that could threaten Europe and eventually the United States. He also said that following what he called the “Midnight Hammer Operation,” Iran allegedly received warnings not to develop nuclear weapons or missiles, though he claimed Tehran continued such activities.

The U.S. president further alleged that Iran was seeking to rebuild its nuclear program and pursuing “sinister goals.” Iran has consistently rejected such accusations.

U.S., Israel Exploit Iran’s Challenges Without Genuine Concern

TEHRAN (Iran News) “It is undeniable that Israel and the US take advantage of our country’s situation. They have done nothing but create problems for us. Their hearts are not with Iran,” Pezeshkian said Thursday in a meeting with intellectuals, political, social, and cultural figures in the northern province of Golestan.

Referring to the recent riots, Pezeshkian added, “During the recent events, Trump and Netanyahu beat the drum of protests. Did they intend to solve our nation’s problems? Has anyone other than them caused issues for us? They have blocked all our paths, frozen our transactions, and obstructed our work, while telling some inside the country that they want to ‘save’ us.”

On Jan. 8 and 9 protests initially sparked by economic grievances turned into unruly scenes of mayhem and destruction. Armed groups infiltrated the demonstrations, leading to damage to shops, government buildings and public facilities, as well as casualties among civilians and security forces.

Iranian authorities confirmed that American and Israeli spy agencies were directly involved, providing funding, training, and media support to the perpetrators.

According to a statement last month by Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, a total of 3,117 people lost their lives during the riots, including 2,427 innocent civilians and security personnel.

The president stressed the importance of national unity in overcoming challenges, saying, “A great wound has been created. We must repair and heal it with unity and cohesion, not deepen it with division and discord, which only increases the country’s problems.”

Pezeshkian also highlighted the longstanding pressure Iran has faced, asserting that those who themselves commit genocide “speak of humanity and human rights, and accuse us of massacre and plunder.”

He noted that since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, “all kinds of pressures and conspiracies have been applied to prevent us from serving the people properly.”

“Our responsibility is to understand the situation and continue serving the people despite all the pressures,” he further said.

Meanwhile referring to public evaluations of officials and the administrative system, the President stated that dissatisfaction with the system in the country is high, and public services are inadequate, leaving citizens dissatisfied with government performance.

Pezeshkian emphasized that the responsibility of all managers and officials is to serve and properly respond to the people. He said, “Officials must perform their duties correctly. During recent incidents, there were grounds for public protests, which Israel and the U.S. exploited, creating challenges for us.”

He added, “Unfortunately, public satisfaction with our system is low. Properly addressing citizens’ concerns and solving their problems depends on how we interact with them. If people are dissatisfied, the problem lies with us, not abroad. If we serve correctly, citizens will not be unhappy. This means that both the government and managers must recognize the reality and strive to be accountable.”

He noted that in sectors such as health, education, and many others, public satisfaction is not adequate. Provincial managers and officials must respond kindly and work to resolve issues. This does not require intervention from the capital but depends on their behavior and approach.

“The people want accountability and proper conduct from us, and this is the responsibility of our managers. If citizens are dissatisfied, it indicates a problem. We must show that we are trying to serve them, and even if we cannot fully solve their problems, they will be satisfied if they see our genuine effort,” Pezeshkian said.

Addressing reports of patients paying unofficial fees to some doctors, he said, “This issue stems from our performance. Those committing such acts claim the government does not reach the people. We need to reform these management practices and be responsive to citizens.”

The President stressed that “we should not fear stating the truth but should fear hiding it.” On the issue of cyberspace, he said, “Filtering only conceals the problem. The reality is that with VPNs, people can access all content, often worse than before. We cannot escape reality. Blocking content does not solve the problem; it pushes youth further in that direction.”

He added, “We must face reality and find solutions. Ignoring the issue does not help. Even among young people in mosques and religious circles, many use VPNs. Filtering channels nearly 30 trillion rials into the pockets of VPN providers.”

Pezeshkian emphasized, “Who says I cannot guide youth in this space with faith, truth, and justice? Officials should serve as models of honesty, integrity, fairness, and efficiency. Criticism should be welcomed, not feared. If I have faults, they must be addressed.” “U.S.”

He urged officials to embrace criticism rather than avoid it, stating, “If I am at fault, I must hear it and correct it. We cannot just demand praise. Hearing the truth is part of our duty to act based on justice and fairness.” “U.S.”

Highlighting the importance of employee satisfaction, Pezeshkian said public satisfaction is tied to the contentment of government staff. “If capable employees are sidelined and positions are given based on political affiliation, dissatisfaction will grow,” he warned. “U.S.”

He also cited provincial data showing that many citizens’ rights have been neglected. “We have fully implemented all decrees during our visits, but unfulfilled commitments from the past 20 years fall on those who failed to act. As the Quran says, it is highly reprehensible to speak and not act.”

TEHRAN (Iran News) A delegation from the committee met with the Venezuelan ambassador to Iran at the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on December 15.

During the meeting, Ebrahim Azizi, chair of the committee, invited the Venezuelan ambassador to visit Iran’s Parliament. He stated that the Islamic Republic “is always ready to support independent nations with a history of resisting colonialism,” naming Venezuela as a country that “has a strong record in confronting domination and imperialism.”

Azizi referred to Venezuelan historical figures from Simón Bolívar to Hugo Chávez, saying they left a “prominent legacy of anti-imperialist struggle.” He added that the United States pressures independent countries under various pretexts and “acts against nations seeking freedom and independence in the name of fighting terrorism.”

He argued that “the essence of the United States is support for terrorism and organized crime,” claiming that U.S. actions in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon took place under such pretexts. “In practice, America has always backed terrorists and is essentially the founder of state terrorism through its intelligence and security organizations,” he said.

Azizi added that the U.S. is a major user and supplier of weapons of mass destruction and chemical weapons, insisting that Washington “has never sought to fight terrorism or defend human rights.”

Commenting on U.S. actions in the Caribbean, Azizi said Washington’s behavior serves as a tool to undermine Venezuelan national will. According to him, U.S. claims about combating drug trafficking are a façade for opposing “free and resistant nations.”

He stressed that Iran’s experience shows the importance of popular mobilization against U.S. pressure, saying, “Wherever America faces a resistant nation, it retreats.” He argued that mass mobilization is “the remedy” for countering U.S. threats.

Azizi also cautioned that the U.S. “is not honest in negotiations,” saying Washington uses dialogue as part of its pressure strategy. He said that if countries show determination and refuse to submit, “the U.S. will back down,” offering Venezuela Iran’s “experiences in resistance.”

He affirmed Iran’s support for Venezuela “as long as you stand against the United States.”

Azizi also referred to recent Iranian–U.S. tensions, saying that Iran responded to attacks on its nuclear centers by striking a U.S. base. He claimed that after Iran targeted a U.S. base in Qatar, Washington “immediately moved toward a ceasefire,” arguing that resistance—not negotiations—would deliver results.

Venezuela’s ambassador to Iran, José Rafael Silva Aponte, criticized what he called U.S. “double standards,” citing American naval operations in the Caribbean under the banner of anti-drug trafficking. He called these actions “an obvious lie,” saying some targeted vessels posed no threat and were not involved in drug smuggling.

The ambassador stated that Venezuela has activated its national defense system and placed its forces on alert, with popular militias and trained civilian units prepared to support the army.

Silva Aponte accused the U.S. of conducting a severe media war against Venezuela, adding that the country is prepared to counter “U.S. media terrorism.”

He said President Nicolás Maduro supports dialogue to prevent war but emphasized that such dialogue “does not come from a position of weakness.” He noted Venezuela’s historical tradition of fighting only in defense, not conquest, calling this a legacy of Bolívar and other independence leaders.

Expressing gratitude for Iran’s support, Silva Aponte declared solidarity with Iran and all nations “that have risen against oppression.” He said the United States seeks to “bring misery to the world,” and Venezuela will stand with Iran as long as it resists U.S. pressure.

Lawmakers Ali Khezrian, Ebrahim Rezaei, and Mohammad Reza Mohseni Sani also attended the meeting.

What Is the Cause of U.S.’s Debt?

TEHRAN (Iran News) As of August 2024, the current volume of the debt exceeds $35 trillion (i.e., more than $35,000,000,000,000!).

Importantly, this figure is greater than the United States’ annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

To put it more clearly: Debt-to-GDP Ratio ≈ 125%.

So, I have to explain why huge amount of debt has been accumulated

U.S. governments spend more each year than they collect in revenues (mainly taxes).

Therefore, to fill the gap between spending and income, they issue bonds (i.e., borrow from the public, banks, or countries like China and Japan, etc.).

The factors contributing to the increase in this debt can be identified as follows:

Reduction in tax revenues and legal tax exemptions or cuts (like the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act); Increased spending on the military, healthcare programs (Medicare, Medicaid), and Social Security; Unexpected crises, such as wars or the COVID-19 pandemic, which came with multi-trillion-dollar relief packages; and high interest payments.

In 2024 alone, the government is paying over $1 trillion just in interest on the debt — the largest budget item after defense and healthcare!

Vulnerability during crises caused by unexpected events therefore the government’s ability to respond to recessions or wars is reduced.

It should be noted that today’s youth and future generations will bear the burden of repaying or managing this debt.

Since the debt is denominated in U.S. dollars (the world’s reserve currency), the U.S. can issue more dollars to manage its debt. However, this inevitably carries the risk of inflation.

The global overconfidence in U.S. Treasury securities allows the government to borrow money at low interest rates.

Public Debt:

This is the part of the debt held by foreign investors, banks, or ordinary citizens.

If U.S. hegemonic power collapses, this debt becomes payable, and more importantly:

Intragovernmental Debt:

This is the debt the government owes to its own institutions (such as the Social Security Trust Fund).

Failure to update or replenish these internal funds can lead to bankruptcy.

A figure that has always remained hidden from the global public eye is the amount of currency printed by the Federal Reserve that is circulating outside of the U.S..

If political crises escalate, or the value and credibility of BRICS increase, this could pose a serious challenge.

In summary, the U.S.’s debt is a structural result of: Tax cuts, Rising social and military spending, Recurring crises, and the unchecked printing of unbacked currency.

While some economists view this debt as a “tool for growth,” its unchecked accumulation can lead to financial instability and potentially trigger a domino effect — causing institution-by-institution collapse within the United States.

Dollar falls after Iran’s attack on U.S. air base

TEHRAN (Iran News) The U.S. dollar rate has decreased after the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (I.R.G.C.) launched a missile attack on the United States’ Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

The value of the dollar dropped at 9:00 PM Paris time on Monday due to a decline in energy prices following Iran’s missile strike, according to France’s Le Figaro newspaper.

After a strong start in the first half of Monday’s trading, the dollar value fell in response to the drop in oil prices, the newspaper reported.

Le Figaro reported that the U.S. dollar recorded a 0.45% decline against the euro in Monday night’s trading, and it also lost 0.54% of its value against the British pound. “Dollar falls”

The I.R.G.C. launched the missile strike on Monday evening in response to the United States’ airstrikes on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan early Sunday. With these attacks, the U.S. joined the Israeli regime in its aggression against Iran, which began on June 13, 2025.

TEHRAN (Iran News) The fourth round of indirect talks with the United States will most likely be held on Sunday, May 11.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Friday that Oman, which mediates the talks, has asked Iran’s viewpoint about Sunday as the date of the new round of the negotiations.

“We conveyed that we agree [on the date]. Apparently, (the Omanis) have talked to the [U.S.] side as well, and as of now, the negotiations are scheduled to be held on Sunday,” Araqchi said.

“Regarding the start time of the negotiations, we are awaiting coordination by the Omani side,” he added.

Regarding the progress of the negotiations, Araqchi said: “In any case, the negotiations are moving forward, and it is natural that the more progress we make, the more consultations and reviews we will need; in addition, the delegations need more time to review the issues raised. But the important point is that we are moving forward in a way that gradually gets into the details.” “U.S. ”

He said that Iran position in the negotiations are principled and have their own basis, and therefore are unchangeable, adding: “We are moving along the path of the principles that have been designed, but we receive contradictory messages from the other side; different people express different opinions. Sometimes, even the words that one person has made are retracted the same day or the next day.”

Iran’s redlines in talks with U.S. are clear: Administration spokesperson

TEHRAN (Iran News) Fatemeh Mohajerani, the spokesperson of the administration, says that Iran’s redlines in indirect talks with the United States are firm and clear, and that Tehran will only engage in negotiations regarding nuclear issues.

During a weekly press briefing in Tehran on Tuesday, Mohajerani said that the Islamic Republic’s redlines have remained unchanged for the past 20 years, and that Iran has never deviated from them. Iran asserted that nuclear energy is essential for peaceful applications, and that the Iranian nation has the right to acquire it.

Iran demonstrated its commitment to diplomacy through multiple rounds of talks, she said, adding that the other side must adopt stable positions.

She reaffirmed that Iran has no objections with continuing the negotiations and because Oman mediates these indirect talks, Tehran is waiting for the neighboring country’s foreign minister to schedule the next round.

Regarding the United States’ embargo on Iran, Mohajerani described the unilateral sanctions as illegal, arbitrary, and contrary to international law, categorizing them as examples of economic terrorism and violations of human rights.

Furthermore, she addressed the administration’s response to the Shahid Rajaee Port incident, saying that a committee has been established to investigate the explosion’s causes, prevent similar accidents, and ensure that the rights of affected individuals are upheld.

On the topic of energy imbalances and power outages across the country, the spokesperson apologized to the Iranian people and highlighted the administration’s efforts to increase generation capacity in both thermal and renewable energy sectors to address the issue.
