Iran went in for maximum points against already-eliminated Palestine and took the lead in the 10th minute through striker Hossein Nokhodkar.

Alireza Ghaderi scored the second goal just four minutes later.

Mohammad Khodabandehlo added a third just before half-time and Mohammad Bagheri made it 4-0 in the 75th minute.

Iran drew against Syria (1-1) and Jordan (0-0) and the results were not enough to take the team through despite finishing second in Group E.

Host Jordan came from 1-0 behind to beat Syria 2-1 and qualified for the final round as the group winner.
