House Minority Leader: Trump is lying about Iran

TEHRAN (Iran News) Speaking to reporters on Tuesday local time, after the briefing session for senior Congress members with Trump’s Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Jeffries referred to Trump’s previous claim that last year’s strikes had “completely and totally obliterated” Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

“Clearly he was lying to the American people, or he’s lying right now,” he added.

“I plan to press them on the claim that Donald Trump himself made about the Iranian nuclear program and what the great urgency is right now,” he added.

Rubio held a meeting on Tuesday evening local time, before Trump’s annual speech to Congress, with the leaders of the House of Representatives and the Senate, along with the chairs and senior members of the intelligence committees of both chambers also known as the “Gang of Eight”.

The “Gang of Eight” refers to the eight senior US Congress officials who, by law, are briefed on the latest and most sensitive security and intelligence information.

Following the 12-day war involving the US and Israel against Iranian nuclear facilities, indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington have resumed, despite US’ contradictory statements and threats.

The first round of indirect Tehran-Washington talks after the 12-day war was held on Friday, February 6, 2026, in Muscat.

The Iranian and American negotiating teams exchanged a set of views through Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Omani Foreign Minister.

The second round of nuclear talks took place in Geneva, Switzerland, on February 17, 2026, concluding after approximately three hours and thirty minutes of intensive diplomatic consultations.

These talks, like previous rounds, were held indirectly with the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman. A new round of talks is scheduled to be held on Thursday in Geneva.

Trump Does Not Have Very Bad Intentions

TEHRAN (Iran News) Donald Trump was, in essence, a believer in the Monroe Doctrine, and he also made some changes to it. It became clear to him during the JCPOA process that Europe, led by London and using Obama’s hand, had deprived the United States of entry into—and return to—the Iranian market, and had viewed everything through a European lens. Therefore, he became upset and withdrew himself from the fray. In essence, Trump’s first step in leaving the JCPOA was to break a plan that England had drawn up for the United States. Of course, Iran was also harmed, but the collapse of the JCPOA in the Iranian market mostly harmed a class that, over the past 30 years, had made Iran’s economy exclusive to itself. Companies were supposed to come, contracts were to be prepared, and the interests of this newly rich current were to be renewed. But let us see what the Monroe Doctrine is, to which Trump shows commitment.

The Monroe Doctrine is a fundamental principle in United States foreign policy that was announced on December 2, 1823 by James Monroe, the fifth president of the country. In essence, this doctrine had three main objectives:

Opposition to “new colonialism” by England, which was formulated against the United States and to preserve England’s colonial interests in its colonies.

Opposition to English interference in the affairs of countries that had not yet been colonized.

Creating understanding and cooperation with Europe so that the United States would not interfere in existing conflicts and colonies of England and some other countries such as Portugal, the Netherlands, France, and Belgium.

In practice, this doctrine meant declaring the Western Hemisphere as the “backyard” or exclusive sphere of influence of the United States, granting it the right to respond in the event of European intervention.

Over time, with the discovery of oil and key developments and later interpretations, the nature of this doctrine gradually changed and was used to justify U.S. interventions in the spheres of influence of England and other European countries.

President Theodore Roosevelt, by adding the “Roosevelt Corollary” to this doctrine, granted the United States the right to act as an international police power. According to this, if a Latin American country showed “chronic wrongdoing” in managing its affairs (for example, inability to repay debts to Europe), the United States had the right to intervene militarily in that country to prevent European intervention. This interpretation led to repeated U.S. military interventions in countries such as Haiti, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic—and later even Iran.

During the Cold War, the Monroe Doctrine was strengthened and revived to counter the influence of the Soviet Union and communist ideology in the Western Hemisphere. The most famous example was the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, during which John F. Kennedy invoked this doctrine to force the Soviet Union to remove its missiles from Cuba.

In the contemporary era, although Barack Obama in 2013 implicitly described that doctrine as obsolete, Donald Trump in 2018 explicitly declared that the Monroe Doctrine is alive and used it to warn rivals such as China and Russia—and more recently Europe—about influence in Latin America and other countries of interest to the United States. This is exactly the same logic seen in the 2025 strategy and the policies of maximum pressure against Venezuela, and in the dealings of America’s 2025 strategy toward Europe.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Trump issued the threat in a speech at the White House on Saturday, claimin the operations might involve ground attacks, though he provided no details about the plan or its execution.

Anti-Venezuela rhetoric is common since Trump deployed warships and fighter jets in the Caribbean and ordered his military to launch attacks on Venezuelan boats under the pretext of targeting drug cartels, a move Caracas described as hegemonic in nature.

He has repeatedly defended the controversial strikes and held Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro responsible for the wave of immigration and drug trafficking. “We know where they live. We know where the bad ones live, and we’re going to start that very soon,” said Trump to the press following a cabinet meeting earlier this week.

While the US military continues naval raids, Trump’s warning of ground invasion has deepened the concerns about the refugee and migrant crises. According to research by the Niskanen Center, the attacks could result in the deportation of three to four million Venezuelan immigrants from US soil.

On Wednesday, the US President also claimed that the operation had saved thousands of American lives, failing to provide any evidence and once again ignoring lawmakers’ demand for the full and unedited release of the first attack that took place on September 2.

A Tariff War Was Declared Against Trump

TEHRAN (Iran News) But, and what a big but, he was unaware that in the short term, higher tariffs would blow back into the eyes of the American people themselves, causing inflation and a rise in prices.

Now, a report by CNN shows that the majority of Americans in new polls emphasize that the cost of living in every sector—from food and housing to healthcare and energy—has increased sharply, and contrary to the Trump administration’s claims, prices are rising every single day. Besides raw statistics speaking loudly, as the Trump administration approaches its first anniversary, Americans feel that prices are increasing daily in every small and large sector.

These are how costs have risen compared to one year ago:

Food: 85%; Bills and services: 78%; Healthcare: 67%; Housing: 66%; and Gasoline: 54%.

The U.S. Treasury Secretary recently stated that prices will go down. So what do the American people think?

CNN, interviewing the public, answers on their behalf: “People think he’s talking nonsense, that’s exactly what they think.” Rising tariffs are already driving prices up.

84% of Democrats, 74% of Independents; and even a majority of Republicans believe that tariffs are increasing prices. Therefore, in this survey, when you manage to get the majority of both Republicans and Democrats to agree on one issue, it means the pain has truly reached the American people. End of message.

Will Trump Bestow a Brexit Bonus on UK?

TEHRAN (Iran News) A working visit took place in July 2018. This trip was official but non-state. Trump met Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, not in London. This type of visit carries fewer formalities compared to a full state visit. The main purpose of the trip was primarily to discuss security and trade issues between the two countries, as well as Trump’s participation in a business forum.

The state visit occurred in June 2019. This trip was formally a state visit with all the ceremonies and extravagances that come with it. It represents the highest level of hosting a country can provide to another leader. During the visit, there were official welcome ceremonies with a ceremonial parade, a state luncheon at Buckingham Palace, and a formal banquet.

During her more than 70 years on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II granted full state visits to only three U.S. presidents: Barack Obama (2011), Donald Trump (2019) and Joe Biden (2023) – though this visit took place after the Queen’s death and was hosted by King Charles III.

Typically, each president receives only one official invitation for a state visit, usually late in their term. Trump’s invitation for a working visit in 2018 followed by a full state visit in 2019 was truly an exception.

One possible reason for this exception was the implicit reward for Brexit, Britain’s exit from the European Union and its rejection of cooperation with the euro. Although only implied, both sides clearly understood each other’s intentions.

The special and unique relationship between Britain and the U.S. (“The Special Relationship”) exists to maintain a bond vital for Britain’s security and economy, and for American influence in Europe. Brexit was a major success for the U.S., and after Brexit, Britain urgently needed to negotiate a new, significant trade agreement with the U.S. Hosting Trump appropriately could help advance this objective.

Within the framework of diplomatic considerations, British officials may have felt that a full state visit for Trump was necessary to better manage relations and influence his policies.

Thus, the two distinct invitations—a working visit and a full state visit—were highly unconventional in British royal diplomatic protocol, reflecting the strategic importance of the U.S.-U.K. relationship and likely Britain’s specific priorities at that time, particularly regarding the “reward” for Brexit.

Europe, of course, perceived this visit as a form of weakening and humiliation. It should be noted that the trip may also reflect Britain’s differing stance from its European partners in the E3 on Middle Eastern issues, especially Iran and the “trigger mechanism” (snapback sanctions).

Historically, Britain has often opposed Europe and aligned with the U.S. over the past century, creating hidden and behind-the-scenes agreements.

We must wait and carefully analyze what sparks beneath the surface may ignite this time.

Trump Knows No Friends

TEHRAN (Iran News) The instinct of savagery and impulsiveness in an animal like Ronald Trump is more apparent than in other bloodthirsty American leaders. According to the Supreme Leader, this petty man exposed all the vile, ugly, and hidden intentions of America.

The plot to deceive Hamas leaders into talks for peace and ceasefire and to give Netanyahu intelligence to strike Hamas’s residential areas in Qatar will not be the last act of this supreme bloodthirsty figure and his “puppy.” Qatar? Qatar? Qatar and the United States have had close strategic relations, and this relationship has manifested in the form of aid, investments, and various collaborations.

The idea that this ferocious beast would do such a thing to its friend is astonishing.

Allow me to point to some of Qatar’s aid to the United States. These aids generally fall into several main categories:

Apparently humanitarian and development aid (through the Qatar Fund for Development)

Qatar, through its development fund (Qatar Fund for Development), has provided significant support to apparently humanitarian and reconstruction projects in regions of interest to the United States.

The most well-known examples:

Afghanistan: Qatar played a key role in aiding the reconstruction of Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban in 2001. At the request of the United States, it provided millions of dollars for educational, health, and infrastructure projects in Afghanistan.

Embassy construction: Qatar covered the costs of building the new United States embassy in Beirut, Lebanon.

Aid to Gaza: Qatar has continuously provided substantial financial support to assist civilians in the Gaza Strip. This aid, often coordinated with the U.S. and the UN, is used to pay health sector staff salaries and to help repair infrastructure. This has helped reduce regional tensions, which is important to the United States.

Qatar Investment Authority

The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world, making massive investments in the U.S. economy. These investments indirectly contribute to U.S. economic growth and job creation. Some key areas include:

Real estate: Purchasing buildings and famous hotels like the Empire State Building in New York and shares in major real estate companies.

Investment in U.S. energy companies and oil and gas projects.

Technology and banking: Acquiring shares in tech giants such as Uber and banking giants like Barclays and Credit Suisse.

Retail: Owning reputable brands like Harrods in London and shares in the Kering fashion group.

In the eyes of media and the global public, Qatar is essentially considered an important security ally of the United States in the Persian Gulf.

Al-Udeid Air Base: Qatar hosts the largest U.S. military base in the Middle East. This base serves as the command center for U.S. operations in the region (USCENTCOM) and has played a vital role in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as anti-ISIS operations.

Weapons procurement: Qatar is one of the largest buyers of U.S. weapons. It has signed multi-billion-dollar contracts for the purchase of F-15 fighter jets, Apache helicopters, and Patriot missile defense systems, which significantly support the U.S. defense industry.

Security intelligence sharing: Qatar shares important security information with Western partners, including the U.S.

Diplomatic mediation: Qatar has often acted as a neutral intermediary between the U.S. and other parties. This role has helped the U.S. find diplomatic solutions without direct conflict.

Qatar hosted the Taliban’s political office in Doha and played the role of main host and facilitator in U.S.-Taliban negotiations, which led to the Doha peace agreement in February 2020.

Qatar has also played a role in transmitting messages between the U.S. and Iran, acting as an indirect communication channel. It has mediated in the release of American citizens held as spies in Iran and other locations.

In short, Qatar’s “aid” to the U.S. has mostly been in the form of large economic investments, strategic security cooperation (hosting military bases), humanitarian aid in crisis regions, and acting as a vital diplomatic intermediary. These relationships have made Qatar a highly important and influential partner for the United States in the Persian Gulf. But you saw what the joint plan of Trump and Netanyahu did in Qatar.

In fact, I wonder how these foolish elements in Iran think one can have friendship with the United States. The U.S. entering any sphere with Iran is like inviting an armed thief into one’s home.

I wish it were possible to awaken those who are asleep, though of course, such a thing is impossible within the structure of wrongful governance.

TEHRAN (Iran News)U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a meeting at the White House, discussed their controversial proposal to forcibly transfer thousands of Palestinians out of the Gaza Strip.

Trump and Netanyahu met for dinner in the Blue Room of the White House on Monday.

The meeting took place as indirect talks in Qatar between Israel and Hamas on a U.S.-backed proposal for a 60-day ceasefire to halt the 22-month war appeared to gather some momentum.

Trump, who earlier this year caused outrage when he floated his idea of relocating Palestinians and taking over the Strip to turn it into a “Riviera of the Middle East,” said there had been “great cooperation” on the matter from “surrounding countries.”

Trump and Netanyahu met as Israeli and Hamas negotiators held a second day of indirect talks in Qatar, seated in different rooms in the same building. Proposals for a 60-day pause in fighting envisage a phased release of Israeli and Palestinian prisoners, Israeli military withdrawals from parts of Gaza, and discussions on completely ending the war.

But a sticking point is whether the ceasefire will end the war altogether. Hamas has said it is willing to free all the prisoners in exchange for all Palestinian prisoners and a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

Netanyahu, however, says the war will end once Hamas surrenders, disarms, and goes into exile, a condition the Palestinian group has dismissed as a nonstarter.

Ahead of Netanyahu’s visit to the U.S., Trump predicted that a ceasefire deal could be reached this week.

TEHRAN (Iran News) The U.S. Supreme Court has allowed President Donald Trump to revoke the temporary legal status of hundreds of thousands of immigrants, potentially exposing nearly one million people to deportation.

The court on Friday upended a lower-court order that kept humanitarian parole protections in place for over 500,000 immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.

The Trump administration appealed earlier to the Supreme Court after a federal judge in Boston blocked its push to end the parole program.

It came after the justices let the administration revoke temporary legal status from about 350,000 Venezuelan migrants.

In an executive order signed on his first day back in office, Trump called for ending humanitarian parole programs in a move that his administration said would make it easier to place immigrants in a fast-track deportation process called “expedited removal.”

Massive protests erupted across the United States in the wake of Trump’s mass deportation of immigrants. The protests have occurred in Alabama, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, South Carolina, and Texas, among other states.

TEHRAN (Iran News) U.S. President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman signed multiple agreements on Tuesday, further deepening the alliance between the United States and Saudi Arabia.

The signing ceremony, held in a gilded ballroom at Riyadh’s Royal Court, featured memoranda of understanding, letters of intent, and executive agreements spanning various sectors.

“I like visiting with you and we’ve known each other very well, and I really believe we like each other a lot,” Trump told bin Salman, known in the West as MBS, at the start of a bilateral meeting.

Among the documents signed was a letter of intent focusing on military cooperation, including the modernization of Saudi armed forces, enhanced training and support services, and another aimed at improving the health capabilities of Saudi military personnel, CNN reported.

Other agreements covered areas such as customs cooperation, medical research on infectious diseases, judicial cooperation, and a partnership between the Saudi Ministry of Interior and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). “Saudi Arabia’s”

Additionally, Trump and bin Salman signed a Strategic Economic Partnership Document to further expand U.S.-Saudi economic relations.

Trump, who arrived in the Persian Gulf for a three-day trip that will also take him to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, emphasized the importance of Saudi investment in the U.S. economy.

He recalled his 2017 visit to the kingdom and joked that a $600-billion investment pledge from Saudi Arabia would be even better if it reached $1 trillion.

Trump says Iran is ‘very reasonable and intelligent’ in talks with U.S.

TEHRAN (Iran News) United States President Donald Trump has described Iran’s approach in nuclear negotiations with Washington as “very reasonable” and “intelligent.”

Ahead of his visit to the region on Monday, Trump praised Iran’s approach in the ongoing indirect talks with the U.S., saying Iranian negotiators were “talking very intelligently,” CNN reported Tuesday.

“I’m heading to the Middle East soon, and we’ll see how we handle Iran. There are some positive developments there,” Trump told reporters.

Trump repeated his assertion that Iran “can’t have a nuclear weapon,” which Iran has repeatedly said it does not seek as per a religious decree by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

“They can’t have a nuclear weapon, but I think they’re talking very intelligently. We are in the midst of talking to them, and they’re acting very smart and very intelligent,” he said, adding, “I think they’re being very reasonable thus far.”

Trump withdrew the U.S. from a landmark deal with Iran during his first term in office and reimposed tough economic sanctions on the country. The renewed diplomacy is aimed at finding a replacement for that deal and the lifting of sanctions.

Trump arrived in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. He will then visit Qatar and the United Arab Emirates as part of his regional tour.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi visited those three Persian Gulf countries in recent days.

Araqchi also led nuclear discussions with U.S. officials in Oman on Sunday, which the Foreign Ministry spokesperson later described as “difficult but useful.” A senior Trump administration official also gave a positive assessment of the talks.
