Iran, who is preparing for the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games, will face host Italy and Slovenia meet France.

Iran youth futsal team will be headed by Ali Sanei.

The third edition of the Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) will be held from 6 to 18 October 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

]]> TEHRAN – Iranian national futsal team finished Isfahan International Futsal Tournament on a high note on Wednesday.

Mohammad Nazemasharieh’s team defeated Russia 4-0 in Isfahan’s Naghsh-e Jahan Stadium.

Mehdi Javid scored twice for the host in the 19th and 29th minutes.

Alireza Rafiei made it 3-0 in the 32nd minute and Mohammad Shajari scored Iran’s fourth goal in the 38th minute.

Iran started the competition with a 3-3 draw against Azerbaijan and edged past Kazakhstan 2-1 in its second match.

Iran won the title with seven points, followed by Russia (four points), Azerbaijan (two points) and Kazakhstan (two points).

]]> TEHRAN– The Iranian national handball team will take part at the tournament in Doha, Qatar.

The tournament will be held in January with participation of Qatar, Iran, Oman and Algeria.

The event comes in light of the preparation for the 18th Asian Handball Championship to be staged in South Korea in January 2018. The event will serve as a qualification tournament for the 2019 IHF World Handball Championship.

Iran has been drawn in Group A along with Japan and Iraq. Group B consists of Bahrain, Uzbekistan, Oman and Australia.

Nine-time winner South Korea, India, Bangladesh and the UAE are in Group C and Qatar, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand and China have been drawn in Group D.

Iran won a bronze medal in 2014.

]]> TEHRAN – Iran will play host to a futsal tournament to be also attended by national teams from Russia, Argentina and Kazakhstan.

Head of the AFC Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee, Abbas Torabian, announced that presence of top teams at FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016 in Iran has been finalized and a quadripartite tournament will be held with national teams from Iran, Russia, Argentina and Kazakhstan in attendance.

Accordingly, the foreign sides will land in Tehran on December 3. The primary matches will take place on December 4 and 5 while the finals will get underway on December 7 after a break day.

“All teams seek to offer performances at a high level,” underlined Torabian stressing that landing first would not be a priority for the participating squads.

He also stated that the tournament was likely to convene in Naghsh-e Jahan sports complex in the Iranian city of Isfahan.
