China Waiting for Iran’s 2021 Presidential Election

The climate of region in the past century has not been like today so apt in favor of China for investment.

IRAN NEWS POLITICAL DESK

The Chinese have invested billions of yuans in southern Pakistan and they have found the climate for investment so conducive than ever. The MoU on cooperation and $400b investment with Iran in the hands of Chinese are waiting for a sustainable political climate in Iran.

The Chinese have pinned their hopes on the 2021 presidential election in Iran for political and economic stability in the country. The U.S. Administration can scream loudly over this event. It makes no difference whether Trump Administration screams or Biden’s Administration is forced to do it.

The U.S. after three years of steadily declining during the Donald Trump’s Administration has sharply deteriorated in 2020. Beijing and Washington have traded blame over the coronavirus pandemic and remained locked in an endless trade war, competed over 5G networks and other technologies, and clashed over rights abuses in Xinjiang and Hong Kong (among other issues).

The U.S. Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in an article published in its website said, “U.S. President-Elect Joe Biden will have to grapple with all these challenges from day one in office. In this roundup, CFR experts look back on significant moments over the past year that will have lasting implications for the relationship and offer their analysis on what to expect under Biden. In the weeks following the U.S. presidential election, administration officials have undertaken a flurry of activities related to Tibet, Taiwan, financial decoupling, and the South China Sea, adding to the vast edifice of initiatives they have constructed over the past four years.”

The website continued, “While it may appear as though these last-minute actions will make it more difficult for the incoming Biden administration, the opposite is true. The more policies the Trump administration piles on, the greater the leverage and range of options it leaves for the Biden team. The Biden administration will have the luxury of deciding how much to retain of what the Trump team has built. Some decisions, such as whether to maintain tariffs on $370 billion worth of Chinese goods, will be challenging. The tariffs have hurt the U.S. economy, but they have also given the United States economic leverage. Other moves, including reviving the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue with Australia, India, and Japan; elevating the U.S.-Taiwan relationship; and sanctioning officials and companies suspected of human rights abuses in Xinjiang, are likely here to stay.”

The CFR went on, “The Biden administration could realize some quick wins by filling in the gaping holes the Trump team has created by abandoning traditional sources of U.S. leverage and influence. Rejoining international institutions and agreements, partnering with European allies, strengthening the United States, and reconstructing the U.S.-China diplomatic framework are likely all on Biden’s agenda. Although the damage inflicted on Hong Kong’s freedoms in 2020—and subsequently on China’s relations with Western liberal democracies, including the United States—appears to be irreversible for the foreseeable future. Beijing’s management in Hong Kong and uprooting the interests of Europe and the U.S. in that region has worsened the U.S.-China relation and even China’s relation with Europe. “

It added, “Destroying the old interests of UK in Hong Kong has left the Westerners high and dry and caused a hidden anger in the West which is not probably comparable with any time in creation of animosity. The succession of Hong Kong–related edicts issued by China’s legislative body, the National People’s Congress, and its Standing Committee, as well as the prompt implementation of that legislation under the guidance of newly installed central government secret police and officials, neutered Hong Kong’s Legislative Council, eliminated prospects for elections with Western intentions, limited the powers of its independent courts, intimidated the pro-West media.”

So all of these led to China’s policy for distancing itself from the West and undoubtedly the Chinese have found their interests for keeping their economic growth in the Persian Gulf, Sea of Oman, and Indian Ocean and this will give the opportunity to the Islamic Republic of Iran to welcome billions of dollars investment.

Previous bonds with China without having any effect on the structure of independence and freedom of the Islamic Republic can become easily hundreds of times much deeper and far-reaching in the region. All attentions of Majlis and the Judiciary should be focused on this issue that lest the 12th government, due to its western approach, vex or offend the Chinese in its last days. The future of our relations with China relies on the maturity of the next government in Iran and I have no doubt that we do have a special and broad look to these relations.

Iranians Have Surmounted Sanctions

According to President Hassan Rouhani government’s promise to the nation, it was supposed after signing the JCPOA, all cruel sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran would have been completely lifted but with arrival of U.S. President Donald Trump at the U.S. political scene suddenly everything changed and not only were sanctions increased more and more but also all the promises that the maladroit diplomacy team of the government had given to the government did not materialize and Iranian nation endured the tribulation of the indecisive JCPOA for four years.

IRAN NEWS POLITICAL DESK

Today all in the world have seen that the U.S. not only in the JCPOA but also in many international treaties has been presented as unethical and commitmentless. However, the president-elect who has won in the election is himself witnessing misconduct of his predecessor Trump who does not intend to hand over the power to the one who has won the people’s votes. But regarding Iran, the winner of 2020 U.S. presidential election, Joe Biden, claims the U.S. leadership of the world.

This very claimant of the world leadership at first should first show the world his leadership of morality in the U.S. in order to have shown at least a little bit difference with his predecessor. For him the smallest step to show him a different one is that he should lift without wasting time all sanctions which have targeted only Iranian people and have made them suffer from endless cruelty, and should suspend playing with words and avoid being the captive of the Zionist policies.

Today most of culture-oriented people in the U.S. politics and economy believe that the U.S. cannot push ahead its policy and goals in other countries by creating poverty and hopelessness; such policy is opposite of the U.S. verbiage of being the leader of morality in the world. Biden only by putting an end to these sanctions can both advance the U.S. interests and revive the lost reputation of the country. The U.S. interests can be better achieved through dialogue. For some time after Trump announced the pullout of the U.S. from the JCPOA, Iran according to the IAEA verification did not pursue enrichment process above the level which had been agreed in the JCPOA. But now the condition is totally different from that time. Iranians according to the paragraphs of 35, 36 and 37 of the JCPOA are allowed to pull out of the NPT Treaty and allowed not to let IAEA inspectors to have access to its nuclear facilities and verification.

All the world believe that the U.S. by returning to the negotiation table will benefit, and to materialize it, it is necessary that Biden cancels all Trump’s executive orders regarding Iran outright and without any negligence. Only such an action can revive the U.S. lost reputation in a short time that Biden needs it for an agreement, and it can provide the ground for broader talks over the other issues.

That Iran accepts Biden to resist for an all-out agreement may make the case more complicated and in this issue, the U.S. may probably gain nothing but “nothing”. Iranians believe sanctions have benefited them and they have succeeded in putting behind major part of the sanctions, and have relied on domestic power and capabilities, and have overcome the unpleasant effects of sanctions.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution recently during his clear remarks whose words were misused and distorted by the West-oriented media has said, “We must be strong in all areas, including economics, science, technology, and defense. Because the enemies will not give up their greed, aggression, and invasions until we become strong. So I strongly advise that you do not trust the enemy. Do not trust any of their promises regarding solving the problems of the people and the future of the country. You saw what the U.S. did to you under Trump and what they did under Obama. The hostilities are not particular to Trump’s America for this to end when he leaves office. Obama’s America was also malicious to you and the Iranian nation.”

The Leader went on to say, “The three European countries too have displayed a total lack of commitment and extreme malice, duplicity, and hypocrisy. Officials should not harm this unity and synergy of the people (referring to the national unity regarding to Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s remarks) and should not divide the nations, and the three branches of power should strengthen national unity through convergence and cooperation and resolve their differences through dialogues. Don’t you say that we should negotiate with the world? Well, is not it possible to resolve differences with the domestic element, either? This is a fact that lifting of sanctions is in the hands of the enemy, but nullifying them is in our hands. Thus, we need to focus more on nullifying them than on having them lifted. Of course, we do not mean that we should not seek to have the sanctions lifted, because if the sanctions can be lifted, we should not hesitate for even an hour. However, this has been delayed for four years now. Since 2016 when all sanctions were supposed to be lifted at once, not only have they not been lifted, they have even increased.”

The Supreme Leader, who was addressing a group of the organizers of the first memorial ceremony of Martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and his comrades who were martyred by the blood-sucker Trump, emphasized, “If the sanctions can be lifted in a correct, wise, Iranian-Islamic, and dignified manner, this should be done. But our main focus should be on neutralizing the sanctions, and the initiative for this is in your hands.”

This method of leadership in tackling Western immorality and misconduct especially by the Americans has kept Islamic Iran on its feet, and for this reason this belief exists that even if Biden moves in the same direction of the past misconducts of Barack Obama or Trump, Iranians would be stronger than before both to overcome the effects of sanctions on their economy and to have independence of their nuclear power.

According To Iran News, Philippines Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran Wilfredo C. Santos on Tuesday met and held talks with Chairman of the Philippines-Iran Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Mr. Alireza Salimi.

During the meeting, Salimi said that Iran and the Philippines in the past years have advanced their relations based on the mutual interests, adding that the international developments have failed to cause any disruption in Tehran-Manila ties.

He then pointed to the old and sustainable relation between both states in different fields like economic, cultural and political, adding that formation of parliamentary friendship groups is a move for boosting and developing bilateral relations, reiterating that Majlis fully supports bolstering and strengthening relations in the economic, trade and cultural fields.

Salimi, who is a member of presiding board of Majlis, added that joint cooperation in regional and international bodies is to the benefit of both countries, and boosting level of relations in agro and economic sectors are of the important issues for both states.

He then pointed to the assassination of Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, and the U.S. sanctions and urged international organizations to probe this terrorist and anti-human rights act.

Mr. Santos, for his part, pointed to the historic relation between Tehran and Manila, and called Iran an important, peace-loving and historic country in the Middle East.

He also stated that Iran is a friendly country which has always supported the Philippines in diplomatic, regional and international relations especially in the UN.

He also praised Iran’s growth in technology, defense and scientific equipment and its special stand in the world nano-technology, announcing his country’s readiness for expansion of ties in this sector.

Santos then emphasized parliamentarian interactions between both states and exchanges of delegations between parliaments of both countries.

Ending All Sanctions , Condition for Considering JCPOA

The wisdom emerged from civility for negotiations with one party of the contract which has disregarded its responsibility and has not fulfilled its obligation in due time rules that in order to substantiate the right of the committed party, first we are better to go to the court and seek our rightfulness from the court, and in case this process is not possible, we should wisely leave the contract through reducing the amount of our commitments based on not giving any pretext to the opposite current.

IRAN NEWS POLITICAL DESK

The recent reciprocal action law, which has been recently approved by Majlis and the government inevitably had to accept it, has put in front of us this very content based on rational principle and gradual reduction of reducing obligations and return to the day one with an experience bitter than the snake venom.

That the other parties have misused the 11th and 12th governments’ convergence and deceived Iran with “JCPOA”, of course, it was a great historical experience which will remain forever between Iran and the West. Westerns and above all Germany are after excessive demands. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas recently in an interview with German weekly Der Spiegel has said that Germany is after an alternative for the JCPOA and a broader nuclear deal with Iran because according to his claim, the current agreement is no longer enough. According to Russian news agency Sputnik which has quoted Maas’s interview, the German foreign minister has claimed, “A form of ‘nuclear agreement plus’ is needed, which also lies in our interest. We have clear expectations for Iran: no nuclear weapons, but also no ballistic rocket program that threatens the whole region. Iran must also play another role in the region.” He went on to claim that a broader accord is needed as Iran cannot be trusted.

Berlin’s demand, as one of the European signatories of the JCPOA for restricting the components of power of the Islamic Republic of Iran in line with the U.S., comes while Iranian officials have repeatedly reiterated that the JCPOA is not negotiable any longer. The most interesting part of the interview is where the Western countries, which have not either fulfilled any of their obligations, do not blame the violator, and with irreplaceable rudeness assert that Iran cannot be trusted while they themselves have been the main violators of the JCPOA and Iran has never fallen short in observing its obligations that most Iranians are opposed to them and only Iran government with collusion with the former Majlis Speaker gave in to it, and the country became committed to fulfill them above its obligations and now it is accused of being distrustful.

U.S. President-Elect Joe Biden, who is on the eve of entering the White House, during his presidential campaign had said that if Iran returned to its full commitment to the JCPOA, he and Washington would return to it, too. On the whole, although he and his advisors several times had stipulated that in case Biden won the election he would return to the JCPOA, they have implicitly and vaguely have talked about the necessity of another accord and this issue has been considered as strengthening the current accord.

The U.S. Administration in May 2018 pulled out of the JCPOA accord, and besides reimposing the suspended sanctions under this accord, it imposed new sanctions against Iran. European troika (Germany, UK and France) despite their verbal opposition to the U.S. pullout of the JCPOA did not fulfill their promises to compensate the effects of this exit. The Islamic Republic of Iran in reaction to the passiveness and inactivity of European countries began to reduce its obligations regarding the JCPOA in five steps. The reciprocal action law approved by Majlis has assigned the government to pave the necessary grounds for return of the country to the primary position that the 10th government had laid its grounds.

Mohammad Javad Zarif is the foreign minister of that government that imposed the JCPOA on the country who in his twitter post says, “Iran has proved its bona fides in 15 IAEA reports. Biden Administration should prove its bona fide by complying fully with the UN Resolution 2231 and ceasing the Trump Administration’s economic war against Iranians.”

Even Zarif in an interview has said, “The U.S. has pulled out of the JCPOA but it has not left the United Nations. The U.S. as a permanent member of the United Nations has responsibilities and obligations and we have a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution that the U.S. as one of the permanent members of the UNSC should observe it. The U.S. has violated the resolution because the Trump Administration was a rebel. Now if Biden Administration wants to be a rebel administration can tie implementation of its obligations to negotiations.”

Iranian foreign minister in another part of his tweet stipulated that Iran will not re-negotiate with the U.S. on the JCPOA. (It means all Westerners should fulfil their due obligations and compensate for their delay in fulfilling their obligations).

That Majlis legislators in the framework of reducing nuclear obligations and Iranian president’s letter to European states and in response to the hostile actions of the U.S. in collaboration with European states against the Islamic Republic of Iran has approved the law, is considered as a small portion of compensating the past damages resulted by the JCPOA deceits.

Westerners should know that the future does not belong to their aligned government. Neither is this Majlis the previous Majlis nor will the next government be beguiled by them once again.

TEHRAN – President Hassan Rouhani announced the country’s readiness to play a role in helping to strengthen the ceasefire between Azerbaijan and Armenia and to stabilize the region.

He made the remarks in his meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov on Wednesday.

Referring to the clear positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and support for the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Rouhani expressed satisfaction with the end of the war between the two countries and the liberation of the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and the establishment of a ceasefire.

He pointed to Iran’s plan for ending the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by sending a special envoy to Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia and announced the country’s readiness to play a constructive role in helping to strengthen the ceasefire between the two countries and establish stability in the region.

Emphasizing the need to use the borders of Iran and Azerbaijan to develop economic and trade cooperation, the Iranian president said, “With the end of the Trump era in the United States and the coming to power of the new administration in this country, we feel that countries will have better conditions for cooperation.”

“Conditions are in place for the implementation of joint cooperation projects agreed between the two countries, including the Khoda Afarin Dam and the construction of a power plant,” he said, adding, “The two countries can further develop their cooperation in the fields of industry, science, pharmacy and other sectors.”

Rouhani called the relations with the friendly and neighboring country of Azerbaijan good and brotherly, saying, “The will of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to develop relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan, and we hope to use the opportunity to create new international conditions to further develop relations between the two countries.”

Referring to the liberation of the occupied territories of this country and the revival of 132 km of border with Iran, he added, “Azerbaijan’s border with Iran is a border of friendship and development, and we believe that the revival of these borders can create new cooperation projects for the two countries.”

He emphasized the development and deepening of relations with Iran in political, economic and trade fields, saying, “The implementation of the Rasht-Astara railway project will increase economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.”

Bayramov expressed hope that with the new international conditions and the removal of existing obstacles caused by US sanctions, joint cooperation projects between the two countries will be implemented and operational quickly.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan also condemned the assassination of the Iranian scientist Martyr Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, stressing, “The assassination of a scientific scientist is not acceptable in any way and we strongly condemn this action.”

Counting on Biden a Strategic Mistake

The 59th U.S. presidential election was held in November 2020 and it was actually a race between incumbent President Donald Trump as the representative of the Republican Party and his major rival Joe Biden as the Democrat Party representative, and the election conflict despite the vote rigging claim from the White House the White House went nowhere and Trump was dethroned.

IRAN NEWS POLITICAL DESK

The Trump Administration’s hostile performance and breaching of promises have caused this question to be raised more than ever whether Biden’s victory can bring a change in the U.S. approach against Iran especially in its economic aspect or not. A glance at the decision-making structure in the U.S. is important for getting the answer to this question. According to the U.S. Constitution, the U.S. president is the highest executive person, and by selecting advisors and secretaries, he makes decision. The president is himself in charge of the Armed Forces, executive power and foreign policy strategy. Besides these, the president is able to use veto right to overshadow the legislative trend of the Congress. Despite all these authorities, there have been always challenges in way of president’s decisions which may cancel, delay or soften his decisions.

So although President says the first word, it does not mean the final decision and action. So despite Biden’s election as the U.S. president, the impacts of the U.S. election on the U.S. policy against Iran should be seen in this framework. Now with Biden’s victory in the elections and taking power by the Democrats, although it seems the Republicans have always had more hostile approaches against our country, with a little bit scrutiny and study of the Iran-the U.S. relations, one can find the most sanctions, breach of promises and hostile approach have happened when the Democrats have been in power. So it is more understandable that Biden will not distance him from this attitude.

In different occasions, Biden has called Iran as the country supporting terrorism, violator of the security of the U.S. and its allies in the Middle East and so far he has not taken a clear and definite stance regarding the U.S. conditional or unconditional return to the JCPOA but appointing a Jewish element in the U.S. Department of State. Although during his election campaign he talked of the U.S. return to the JCPOA, with this action he is after legal use of it as a member of the JCPOA and consequently extending Iran arms embargo, adding other and new articles to the agreement, coming out of the current dominant isolation of the U.S. and boosting the U.S. legitimacy among the European states and allies, of course, in confrontation with the White House’s past policies.

Therefore, Biden, at the best, may reduce some of psych wars against Iran or slacken the implementation of some previous or new sanctions against Iran. So, one cannot be so that optimistic to Biden’s presidency.

The 12th government in the Islamic Republic of Iran, as it has put all its eggs in the JCPOA basket since September 2013 till now, in other words, in the past seven years, and achieved no success, still has not stopped pinning hopes on this matter that JCPOA with Biden could be a breakthrough.

Attachment to the West is a very incurable disease that many in Iran have been infected by it since the Constitutional Revolution of Iran (1905-1911) and they have even spread the contagiousness of their disease to the educational system and media culture, and the current government and cabinet has not remained immune from this plight. It seems those who have studied in our country feel the real taste of independence. When people go abroad, some kind of attachment to the Western condition shapes in them. Dispatch of offspring of some of officials in the Islamic Republic of Iran to foreign countries, of course, on the pretext of study has created risks for the country both for its economic health and native culture to suffer from the “aghazadegi” (attitude of children of elite who emerge as the men of means and influence).

The next governments should look at this matter seriously with the armed eyes in order that we could somewhat remain guardian of the blood of martyrs of the Islamic Revolution.

Lasting Security Possible Only Via Cooperation With Neighbors

IRAN NEWS POLITICAL DESK

TEHRAN – President Hassan Rouhani said that Iran sees lasting security as possible only through cooperation, partnership, and peace with its neighbors.

Speaking at the 20th Summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of States on Tuesday, Rouhani said, “Iran is ready to share its experiences with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the fight against coronavirus.”

“Iran emphasizes its principled policy of good neighborliness and dialogue with its neighbors, and sees lasting security as possible only through cooperation, partnership, and peace,” he added.

“Presenting Hormuz Peace Endeavor (HOPE), participating in the Astana Peace Talks, supporting the peace and stability in Afghanistan and the need for multilateral cooperation between the Shanghai Cooperation Organization are examples of Iran’s participation in ensuring lasting security in the region and the world,” Rouhani said.

Some excerpts of President Rouhani’s speech are as follows:

“At the outset, I would like to express my gratitude to His Excellency Mr Vladimir Putin, the Honourable President of the Russian Federation for organising this summit. I am also delighted to have found the opportunity to be participating in the summit, albeit through video-conference.

The world is presently in a precarious situation. On the one hand, COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly ravaged economies, particularly the livelihood of the people, and has posed grave threats to individual lives. On the other hand, U.S.’ pursuance of unilateralism and dismissal of respect for international law and institutions has further burdened co-thinking countries to double down their efforts to strengthen cooperation and form a united front in the face of both challenges combined.”

“In order to counter the shared challenges of COVID-19 pandemic, it is urgent that SCO member states, in coordination with the UN and WHO, proceed to adopt a coherent and unified approach whereby they should ensure the full, free and equitable access of all regional and global populations to healthcare services and medical equipment intended for better combat against the disease. To this end and for improving on their conditions, the Islamic Republic of Iran provided some regional countries with humanitarian aid. We also register our readiness to share with other member states our experiences in combating COVID-19.”

He went on to say, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has invariably emphasized its principled policy of strengthening good neighborliness, confidence-building and dialogue with its neighbors in such regions as Eurasia, the Persian Gulf and West and South Asia. For the Islamic Republic of Iran, sustainable security is viable but through cooperation, participation and peace. The proposal of the Hormuz Peace Endeavour (HOPE), involvement in the Astana Peace Process, supporting peace and stability in Afghanistan and emphasis on increased multilateral cooperation among SCO member states are notable examples, to name a few, of the attention extended by the Islamic Republic of Iran to participation and cooperation for sustainable regional and global security.”

President Rouhani added, “In order to address regional challenges in security, political and economic fronts, the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes cooperation within the framework of the SCO Iran has always equalised the security of the surrounding region with its own security and has unfailingly exercise efforts to preserve regional peace and stability. Along similar lines, we will continue our cooperation with our partners as also with the SCO to effectively counter terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.”

He said, “Combating terrorism, extremism and separatism is a pivotal principle in cooperation bids among regional countries and SCO members. Averting the spread of an ideology of violence and extremism, collectively dealing with currants and entities that breed and disseminate extremist thinking in the region, and identifying inception grounds of terrorist groups as well as their sponsors and financial resources are one of the crucial joint missions of the SCO under collective security. Owing to years of extensive experience in combating terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran registers its readiness for action against such terrorist groups as also against extremism. Earlier this year, one of the greatest commanders of the forefront of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s struggle against terrorism, Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, was, in an act of cowardice, assassinated and martyred by the very creators and sponsor of Takfiri and terrorist currents. Nevertheless, we are still determined to pursue our cause of complete suppression of extremist terrorists and extermination of occupation by outsiders. In this regard, the resolution tabled by Iran titled “World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE)” passed by UNGA with 190 affirmative votes in December 2013, could serve SCO for further practical measures.”

The president further said, “The foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently been based on good neighbourliness, peaceful coexistence and ever-increasing development of trade and economic ties with neighbours and friendly countries to serve the goal of regional economic growth and development. In this context, we have presented initiatives and have welcomed the initiatives of friendly countries as well. It is necessary to make maximum use of joint cooperation opportunities for the betterment of welfare and livelihoods of the residents of this region as also for regional sustainable development and poverty alleviation.”

President Rouhani continued, “Political and economic multilateralism has been seriously threatened in recent years with the US attempting to impose, with unmitigated bullying, its domestic policies and laws on the world order and countries with political independence. The U.S. presidential election results showed, yet again, that the world is not alone in opposing the wrong policies of the incumbent U.S. administration. The very U.S. public has been beset by such policies. The U.S. people saw the world’s response to bullying, law aversion, breaches of international commitments, threatening and functioning and decided to bring about a change. Once again, the history imposed the eats reality on the ruling arena and the political sphere and taught another lesson to adventurers, war-mongers, adversaries of nations’ rights and violators of undisputed international rights. The US presidential election results shows that a country constantly wielding threats, sanctions and sticks and taking a bullying tone with other nations must be pursuing a misled foreign policy.”

Restrictions due to combatting the outbreak of Coronavirus had made observing this year’s National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance, November 3, different with what was in the past. Attention to what the Supreme Leader in his remarks has stated makes completely clear the road of Iranian nation in keeping this cause alive.

IRAN NEWS POLITICAL DESK

Today Islamic Iran has proved its power either spiritually or materially in the world especially to its enemy number one, the Great Satan. The most important reason to accept this claim is that the Supreme Leader in his remarks says today the U.S. sees the Islamic Republic of Iran standing like a strong and unreachable mountain against it. Of course, Iranian nation has not forgotten how UK and the U.S. and their internal devoted mercenaries have behaved as traitors, with the policy and dignity of the nation during the past century. The Islamic Revolution has been able to create ray of hope in the heart of innocent Iranian nation.

In 1979, exactly 25 years after the unsuccessful 28 Mordad 1332 coup d’état (August 18, 1953 coup d’état in Iran), Muslim Student Followers of the Imam’s Line occupied the U.S. Embassy in Tehran. This event with the approval of the late Great Imam Khomeini (R) turned into a turning point in the relations of both countries, and since then the political and economic relations of Iran with the U.S. have remained severed and even during almost 42 years, it has sometimes led to military confrontations.

Although with August 18 coup the presence of Americans in the country became more colorful, the reason behind this presence dated back to many years before the coup, and it seems with taking those factors into consideration, one can analyze the relations between these two states and the lump hidden in the throat of Iranian nation both in pre and post Islamic Revolution victory eras, and he can find the reasons behind the occupation of the spy den (U.S. Embassy) with appropriate understanding of what has happened to Iran and its people.

Addressing this fact that if the U.S. Embassy was not occupied, what could happen to the confrontation of the people and the U.S., and to the way of penetration and enjoying the penetration power. Who is that does not know after the World War II and since 1945, the U.S. hostility against Iranian people has turned into a program to minimize the British influence and to loot more oil resources of Iran. Before addressing the reason behind the U.S. enmity with Iranian nation, I should answer to this question how the U.S. has turned from a colonial country into an imperialist one.

The U.S. was an introversionist country and was busy with its own domestic disputes but after the World War II and the Cold War ended in favor of the West, it coveted West Asia region (Middle East) and stepped in challenging with Russian and British interests. The most important factor which dragged the U.S. into this region can be summarized in oil and what you understand is the very oil.

If I can dare to say how the U.S. was dragged into the oil and the region, I blame the then Iran Prime Minister Dr. Mosaddeq and his simplistic thinking about the world arrogance. When Mosaddeq was disappointed with the British and Freemasonry, he turned to the U.S., and the U.S. took advantage of the open gate and entered.

The U.S., after Mohammad Reza Pahlavi took power, adopted a special approach towards Iran. Before then, the British used to dominate all rulers and statesmen of Iran but according to the documents, with the beginning of the movement for nationalizing the oil industry, the U.S. tried its efforts to attain its oil interests in Iran. Americans with the intention to enjoy Iran’s oil, which was used by the British, entered Iran and expanded their influence. After this, a serious competition between the U.S. and UK heated up for gaining more profits and interests from Iran’s national resources, and after the August 18 coup, the key turned in favor of joint cooperation between these two states.

Here it is necessary to point to the appointment of Fazlollah Zahedi as Iran Prime Minister. According to the existing and revealed documents, at first the British opposed this appointment because they had imprisoned and exiled Zahedi because of being unreliable but Zahedi was a trusted person of Shah as the kingmaker and for the U.S. as a mercenary.

In 1948 and 1949, implementation of U.S. President Harry Truman’s Point Four Program in Iran began, and political, cultural and economic advisors with American programs arrived in Iran. Hence, a joint commission between Iran and the .U.S. was set up that Zahedi presided it for two to three years. Americans found Zahedi a loyal and trusted person and for this reason after the August 18 coup, they brought him to power. The catastrophe of Iranian people’s innocence and converting the British-Russian colony into the American-British colony introduced Iran as the integrated colony state of the West while people kept this innocence inside themselves and considered this presence as a means for loot of their wealth, and in 1979 Iranians put an end to it. The irreplaceable role of the late Imam Khomeini (R) in directing the country towards putting an end to the U.S. presence in Iran cannot be ever forgotten.

Tehran Slams UN Human Rights Report as Baseless Claim

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK

TEHRAN – Secretary of Iranian Judiciary’s Headquarters for Human Rights Ali Bagheri-Kani on Monday dismissed special rapporteur’s report on Iran’s human rights situation, saying that the report has no legal basis.

In a live televised speech on Monday night, he said that politicization prevails in the report, as it has been drafted based on political considerations and lacks any legal standing.

All the report is full of views based on those of Western countries and powers that are in conflict with the policies and approaches of the Islamic Republic of Iran, he said.

This report is mainly based on allegations, accusations and information provided by groups affiliated to obstinate governments of the Islamic Republic of Iran and terrorist groups, he said, noting that it lacks any expert view on the issue of human rights.

Earlier, he said that the special rapporteur for Iran was appointed by a country that has refused to sell medical equipment for the treatment of innocent sick children.

Emphasizing that the process of appointing a reporter was politically motivated, he added that even at the meeting of the Human Rights Council, the number of countries that agreed to appoint a reporter was less than those disagreed.

Furthermore, the assassination of Lieutenant-general Qasem Soleimani has not been mentioned in the report while the UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions called this crime a violation of human rights, a violation of humanitarian law and a clear violation of the right to life, he said.

He also stated that the United States is not a negotiator and does not have a strategic view in this regard.

Delivering a speech at the International Conference on United States’ decline, Bagheri Kani expressed that what caused the U.S.’ failure in Iraq was the power of Islamic Revelation’s thoughts in Iraq, meaning that people went on streets because of their beliefs.

“U.S.’ decline is not a new topic, it has many reasons that in our point of view the effects of the Islamic Republic of Iran were the main causes of U.S.’ decline at the international level,” he added.

“The U.S. thought that it could be the only power, so it focused on reducing the gap between ‘will’ and ‘goal’. Moreover, it tried to reduce costs to achieve its goals by just focusing on the tolls that they have at their disposal,” Bagheri Kani noted.

“A look at recent decades represents that the U.S. could not impose its thoughts on countries like Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine which were under the auspices of the Islamic Revolution and did not let them fulfill their aims,” he highlighted.

“Soft power components have been challenged in the U.S. like freedom and human rights, so the US has to withdraw because they have to solve their internal issues first,” Bagheri noted.

“Although the U.S. is declining, it has not lessened its predatory to compensate its structural weakness, they do not even observe human rights and freedom in appearance,” he pointed.

Atheism or Hypocrisy, Which One Should We Side With?

Have anyone thought that Turkey, in supporting Republic of Azerbaijan’s invasion of Armenia, is pursuing some part of its scenario of Neo-Ottomanization?

IRAN NEWS POLITICAL DESK

That Karabakh dispute has very dimensions and multi-dimensions like inland, outland, regional and even international roots, and for this reason all regional and international actors are involved in this dispute, the Islamic Republic of Iran unlike them has emphasized solving the problem peacefully through mediation and insisted on it but other parties have shown no will in settling the dispute and they do not endeavor to quench this devastating and bloodshedding fire. Isn’t it interesting that today Iran’s share required to care has been more than other involved parties in the dispute? Because Karabakh in the past was part of northern region of Iran that was separated according to the Gulistan Treaty after the World War I and after the conflict between Iran and Tsardom of Russia and killing of Javad Khan Qajar, the last Iranian ruler of that area. After the collapse of Tsar Empire in Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia became independent, to some extent, thanks to possession of Iran’s lands.

Unfortunately we see some clerics and ulema in Iran issuing statements and claims that since Azerbaijan is a Shiite country and pro-Prophet Household, we should support Azerbaijan as a Shiite country and we should defeat Armenia. This is while our national interests do not necessitate, for the time being, to side with any one of them, and announcing readiness for mediation has been even the wisest decision.

However, one should ask this question who believes that Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev has taken military action just for the sake of Shiism’s interests while the country has signed military and security pact with Israel and has provided Israel with the base for its drones. The country uses Israeli equipment against people of Karabakh. In the Republic of Azerbaijan that we consider it a Shiite country and pro-Prophet Household, Muslims are not allowed to form religious processions in the month of Muharram and offenders against this order are severely punished. In this country many mosques which were revered by majority of Shiite population have been demolished that the last one was Fatemeh Zahra (A) Mosque in the Yeni Guneshli district in Baku.

In this country observing hijab (Islamic dress-code) in schools, universities and public places are forbidden and a large number of Muslim girls are expelled from educational places for observing their hijab and even some protestors to this policy like Haj Mohsen Samedov have been jailed and lost their lives due to the terrible prison condition as Samedov has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and he is still serving his prison term due to just being religious.

In Azerbaijan homosexuals are allowed to stage rallies or protests and even to have same sex marriage, and Aliyev’s government support them (It is not still forgotten that just a couple of months ago thousands of angry people in Tabriz staged a protest rally in front of Azerbaijan Consulate to react to this event). This is while holding mourning processions during Ashura and Arbaeen of the third imam of Shiites are barred. In Azerbaijan, playing adhan (call to prayer) or Holy Quran from loudspeakers of mosques are forbidden and if it is not observed it is considered as an anti-security act. In this country, saying prayers in the public and state places are forbidden and heavy penalties await the offenders (Some senior commanders in Azerbaijan Army have been expelled just for saying prayers). Women are obliged to use their photos without hijab in their passports or ID cards. Should we accept optimistically the claim of Shiism of this government? Or do we accept the Shiism claim as an apparent and obvious hypocrisy which is undeniable? Suppose that we have not had and do not have any peaceful relation with Armenia which is a non-Islamic country and we call them atheist but how can we not see the goals of Turkey behind this dispute?

Turkey’s interest for active presence in the Caucasus Region, and cooperation and proximity with Azerbaijan can be analyzed as the hegemonic goals and its major goals can be enumerated clearly. First Turkey with supporting Azerbaijan has a strategic approach towards the Caucasus Region for creating a strategic balance for competition with regional actors like Russia and Iran and attaches a special attention to extending its joint border with Iran. Secondly, economic goals of Turkey in the Caucasus Region for providing its energy through developing and expanding the oil pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan) and cooperation with Azerbaijan have had a far-sighted process and it is part of its Neo-Ottomanization strategy in the region. Thirdly, Turkey’s motivation for entering the South Caucasus Region is accompanied with a nationalism and ideological approach. Turkish language, religion and common faith have caused Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to have a special view blended with support of Azerbaijan in the Karabakh issue. Now it is quite clear some of expenditures which are spent by Pan-Turkism in Iran are financed through which avenues.

One should intelligently notice that the prevailed condition in Caucasus Region is in a way that countries which are struggling with crises, like Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, have to rely on regional and trans-regional powers and actors for pursuing their goals and relations because of their incapability in managing the crisis and settling the disputes. So the success of Turkey in this region will not ever be to the benefit of the region.

The reason that Turkey does not intend to convince Azerbaijan to accept Iran’s mediation as the sheikh (leader and elder) of the region lies in this issue that the unconstructive role of international actors like the OSCE Minsk Group (the U.S., Russia and France) is very calculated and bold for settling the dispute due to their differences over their interests, and continuation of the dispute and above all success of Azerbaijan will never be to the benefit of a sustainable peace in this geography.
