TEHRAN (Iran News) Iran has strongly condemned the terrorist crime committed by the Israeli regime against Yemen, warning of the growing threats posed by Israel’s expansionism and organized terrorism to international peace and security.

In a statement on Saturday night, the Foreign Ministry denounced the Israeli strike on Yemen that killed Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahawi, the prime minister of the country, along with several ministers.

The ministry called the attack a clear “war crime” and “crime against humanity,” urging the international community and Muslim nations to take serious action to curb Israel’s aggression.

The statement described the strike as a “brutal act of revenge” against a nation determined to fulfill its moral and humanitarian duty to support the oppressed people of Palestine.”‘terrorist’ attack ”

It stressed that the killing of Yemeni officials would not weaken the resolve of the Yemeni nation to defend its dignity and stand by Palestine but would instead fuel growing anger across the Islamic world against Israel and its backers, particularly the United States.

Iran expressed condolences over the death of Yemeni leaders and civilians, underlining the UN’s responsibility to stop Israel’s warmongering and hold its leaders accountable.

The ministry warned that the UN Security Council’s continued inaction in the face of Israeli violations of international law undermines global norms and endangers regional and international security.

It also reiterated the need for prosecuting Israeli political and military leaders over war crimes in Gaza and Yemen.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Law enforcement officials in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan say they have foiled a terrorist attack by an Israeli-linked group targeting the provincial judiciary department in the city of Zahedan. At least six people were killed in the attack, and all of the assailants were neutralized.

Alireza Daliri, deputy law enforcement commander in the province, told IRNA that members of the terrorist team, posing as clients, attempted to enter the Zahedan Judiciary Department on Saturday morning. Upon identifying the threat, security forces engaged in a clash that resulted in the neutralization of all three assailants, he said.

Daliri added that two attackers were killed in a nearby street while attempting to flee, and the third was killed before he could detonate a grenade. The explosion resulted in several civilian deaths, including a mother and a one-year-old child, Daliri said, without providing further details.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps in Zahedan put the death toll at six. In a separate statement, it said that 22 others were injured in the attack, with most of the casualties being ordinary citizens.

Earlier in the day, Iran’s Judiciary also confirmed the attack and ensuing clashes in a statement, saying that several people were injured, and that emergency personnel had been dispatched to the scene.

Some of the injured were evacuated from the judiciary building by rescue teams and transported to medical centers, the statement said.

Clients and staff were escorted out of the area by security and law enforcement forces, with security personnel now stationed around the courthouse, it added.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – When on September 1, 2001, the U.S. was targeted by a terrorist attack, many people cast doubt on the attack and claimed it was dubious because such an attack was impossible especially in the middle of New York unless the terrorists had received a green light and now coming reports claim that the attack was an excuse and a license for the deaths of over 4.5m people.

A new report on Friday revealed that the wars initiated by the United States in the Middle East and North Africa following the September 11 attacks have directly or indirectly killed at least 4.5 million people and displaced millions of others.

According to the research report from the Costs of War project at Brown University Watson Institute, nearly one million people were directly killed as a result of conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, Libya and Somalia.

The report, released on May 15, also estimated that at least 3.6 to 3.7 million of the casualties were “indirect” deaths caused by a variety of factors, including failed economies, extreme poverty, malnutrition, disease, destroyed health infrastructure, environmental contamination and reverberating trauma and violence.

The numbers of direct and indirect war casualties are still continuing to grow from ongoing global conflicts after more than two decades, the report added.

“These wars are ongoing for millions around the world who are living with and dying from their effects,” it said, emphasizing that women and children “suffer the brunt of the impact.”

“Indirect deaths are devastating, not least because so many of them could be prevented, were it not for war,” the report said, adding that it is difficult to estimate indirect deaths, as they do not occur immediately after the battles.

“A death from hunger mostly occurs at some distance from this attention to spectacle and it may happen months or years after war disrupts access to food. Often, people affected by war are displaced and transient, making them hard to track.”

The report also acknowledged that it is difficult to disentangle indirect war death factors from the ones that might have occurred in places where people are already suffering from high rates of poverty, disease, and malnutrition.

It singled out the U.S. for its role in many post-9/11 wars, particularly the casualties over the past 20-plus years in Afghanistan.

Though the U.S. withdrew its military forces from Afghanistan in 2021, officially ending the war, Afghans are “suffering and dying from war-related causes at higher rates than ever.”

The U.S. invaded Afghanistan in October 2001 following the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, despite the fact that no Afghan national was involved in the attacks. Hundreds of thousands of Afghans died in the US war of aggression on the country. Nevertheless, the Taliban returned to power in 2021, 20 years after their removal by US forces.

The report also called on Washington to make reparations for the damage inflicted by post-9/11 conflicts, saying, “Reparations, though not easy or cheap, are imperative.”

“In laying out how the post-9/11 wars have led to illness and indirect deaths, the report’s goal is to build greater awareness of the fuller human costs of these wars and support calls for the United States and other governments to alleviate the ongoing losses and suffering of millions in current and former war zones,” it said.

Stephanie Savell, the report’s author and co-director of the Costs of War project also noted that “there are reverberating costs, the human cost of war, that people for the most part in the United States don’t really know enough about or think about.”

The author further stated that the researchers applied the Geneva Declaration Secretariat’s average ratio of four indirect deaths for every one direct death, adding that while that ratio may be lower in Iraq, it would be higher in Yemen or Afghanistan and thus the ratio was deemed accurate to arrive at the “reasonable and conservative” estimate of 4.5-4.6 million.

This report once again reiterated that the attack was dubious and it was a reason for military actions and killing of many people in the world under the pretext of fighting terrorism.

Of course, Western countries, especially the U.S., have always sought some reasons, either true or baseless ones, to take military action in different countries and the 9/11 was the best excuse for the all-out presence of the Western states in different parts of the world especially in Afghanistan and in the Middle East states.

We have not yet forgotten the Persian Gulf War and the U.S. attack on Iraq under the baseless claim of Iraq’s having weapons of mass destruction that the world after months of destructive war learned that the West’s claim was baseless and this continued when four coordinated suicide terrorist attacks were carried out by the militant Islamist extremist network al-Qaeda against the United States. That morning, 19 terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners scheduled to travel from the New England and Mid-Atlantic regions of the East Coast to California. The hijackers crashed the first two planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, which were two of the top five-tallest buildings in the world at the time.

When the attack was carried out, many analysts cast their doubt on the attack and claimed that there is something fishy about it and as the time passes on, we realize those analysts were right and the attack is used as an excuse for the presence of the U.S. and its allies in the Middle East or in any other part of the world where they feel their presence is needed.

The recent report shows that 9/11 is a reason and excuse for the West to continue their presence and crimes in any part of the world under the pretext of fighting terrorism.

While Iran has remained committed to maintaining a peaceful nuclear program, an Iranian nuclear scientist was assassinated by an Israeli terrorist attack, the ambassador said.

He called on the agency and all the member states to fulfill their obligations under the international law concerning the fight against terrorism and condemn such an act of aggression in the strongest possible terms.

Gharibabadi reiterated that Iran will not let such a crime go unanswered.

The IAEA Board of Governors convened for a regular meeting on March 1-5.

Previously, Gharibabadi made the comment while elaborating on the actions taken to stop the adoption of the anti-Iran resolution by the three European countries.

“With the three European countries beginning to present a US-backed resolution against Iran at the Board of Governors, different measures were put on the agenda [to stop the move],” he said.

“The moves included extensive consultations with members of the Board of Governors in Vienna and the capitals of member states, the [Iranian] foreign minister’s sending a letter to his opposite numbers in different member states of the Board of Governors, Iran explaining its stances to the IAEA and Board of Governors’ members in a briefing text, tapping into the potential of the Secretariat of the IAEA and the agency’s director-general to strive to maintain cooperation and interaction [between Iran and the IAEA], making special coordination with Russia and China, which expressed their opposition to the resolution, and sending messages by the Iranian president, foreign minister, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and the deputy foreign minister for political affairs,” he explained.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – In a statement on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh deplored the heinous attack in the city of Peshawar and offered sympathy to the Pakistani nation, government and the bereaved families of the victims.

The spokesman said the killing of innocent people, including defenseless children, showed that the perpetrators of such terrorist acts do not adhere to any moral and humanitarian principles.

Khatibzadeh said the terrorist acts in some neighboring countries in recent weeks are part of sinister plans to escalate ethnic and religious differences in the region.

He underlined that combating such vicious moves requires vigilance, cooperation and comprehensive efforts of the regional governments.

An explosion at a religious school in the northwestern city of Peshawar killed at least seven people and wounded 109 others, police and health officials say.

The blast occurred at the Speen Jamaat mosque, which also serves as a religious school for the local community in the city’s Dir Colony area, at 8:30am local time (3:30 GMT) on Tuesday, a police official told Al Jazeera shortly after the blast.’

It was not immediately clear how many children were among those killed or wounded, as the students gathered at the school included many who were adults.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility following the attack.

LAHORE, Pakistan — At least seven people were killed and more than 70 wounded when a powerful explosion ripped through an Islamic religious school in northwestern Pakistan on Tuesday, officials said.

Classes were underway early Tuesday at the school, the Jamia Zuberia madrasa, located in a crowded suburban neighborhood outside Peshawar, when the explosion shook the compound. Officials said an improvised-explosive device was most likely used in the blast.

No group has claimed immediate responsibility.

The majority of those injured were taken to the nearby Lady Reading Hospital. A state of emergency was declared for the city’s other hospitals, which prepared for the crush of wounded victims.

Television footage showed a scene of devastation at the site of the blast. The religious school was cordoned off as officials combed for forensic evidence.

In a statement on Monday, Saeed Khatibzadeh denounced the terrorist attack in Jolo town south of the Philippines that killed and wounded a number of innocent citizens.

The Iranian spokesperson also expressed sympathy with the Filipino government and nation, and the bereaved families of victims of the terrorist attack.

At least 14 people were killed and dozens wounded, including soldiers and police, in a twin bombing involving a suicide attacker on an island in southern Sulu province of the Philippines.

Military officials say the militants allied with the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group set off a powerful motorcycle explosive followed by a suicide bombing that killed people in the worst extremist attack in the Philippines this year.

At least 75 soldiers, police and civilians were wounded in the midday bombings.

Parwan province’s police chief Haroon Mubarez said on Tuesday the gunmen stormed the mosque when worshippers were offering evening prayers after breaking their Ramadan fast, Aljazeera reported.

It was unclear how many gunmen were involved in the attack.

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Interior confirmed Tuesday’s attack in Parwan’s capital Charekar, blaming it on the Taliban. The armed group denied responsibility.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Taliban launched an attack on Afghan security forces in the northern city of Kunduz, killing eight and injuring several others.

The incident came a week after President Ashraf Ghani ordered the country’s military to resume its operation against the militants following a string of deadly attacks on security forces.

The United Nations has warned of an alarming uptick in violence against civilians and a “striking deterioration” in respect for international humanitarian law in Afghanistan.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Turkey will oppose NATO plan for the defense of Baltic countries if the alliance does not recognize groups that Turkey deems terrorists, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday, ahead of a NATO alliance summit in London.

Relations between Turkey and its NATO allies have been strained over a host of issues, ranging from Ankara’s decision to procure Russian air defense systems to Syria policy. Several NATO members condemned Turkey’s decision to launch an offensive into northeastern Syria against the Kurdish YPG militia.

Ankara has refused to back a NATO defense plan for the Baltics and Poland until it receives more support for its battle with the YPG, which it views as a terrorist organization.

Ahead of his departure from Ankara for the NATO summit, Erdogan said he had spoken to Polish President Andrzej Duda on the phone Monday and had agreed to meet with him and leaders of Baltic countries in London to discuss the issue, Reuters reported.

“With pleasure, we can come together and discuss these issues there as well,” he said. “But if our friends at NATO do not recognize as terrorist organizations those we consider terrorist organizations … we will stand against any step that will be taken there.”

A Turkish security source said Monday that Turkey is not “blackmailing” NATO with its rejection of the plans and that it has full veto rights within the alliance.

Turkey, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom are expected to hold a separate meeting on the sidelines of the NATO summit. Erdogan said they would mainly discuss Turkish plans to establish a safe zone in northeast Syria, which has until now been met with criticism from Ankara’s European allies.

Separately, Turkey has been at odds with Greece and Cyprus over ownership of offshore natural resources in the eastern Mediterranean. Erdogan said he will also meet with the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in London.
