The top Iranian commander stressed that Iran has a right to confront the terror groups under the Charter of the United Nations.

“Our operations against anti-revolutionary groups will continue and we will not tolerate any trouble on these borders,” Major-General Baqeri warned.

He said the terrorist groups have suffered many defeats in recent years, but have been incited by the United States, Israel and some Arab states over the past year to expand terror operations.

The chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces once again called on leaders of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region and the Iraqi government to confront and deal with the terrorist cells.

“We have advised leaders of Iraq’s northern Kurdistan region and Iraqi government officials to dismantle and deal with these groups, and block their activities, this warning… has been issued for some years but unfortunately they have failed to act,” Baqeri noted.

On 8 September, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps pounded the positions of terrorist groups in northern Iraq with several missiles.

The missile strikes came after a warning to Kurdish authorities and in response to infiltration attempts by terrorist cells.

The IRGC said in a statement that the missile unit of the IRGC Aerospace, with the participation of the IRGC Ground Forces UAVs unit carried out a successful operation yesterday (Wednesday), and pounded the headquarters, a meeting of one of the evil and criminal groups and a training center belonging to the foreign-backed terrorists with 7 short-range missiles.

Baqeri’s warning comes a week after a similar warning from the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani, who in a meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister called for “disarmament” and “swift expulsion” of armed groups opposed to the Islamic Republic of Iran from the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

Shamkhani said that “terrorist groups in Kurdistan” had increased their activities and that the presence of these groups was “disrupting the security of the borders of the two countries.”

mohammad khakpour, commander of the irgc’s ground force, also claimed on september 6 that some armed groups were using areas in northern iraqi kurdistan for “security activities” and that kremlin and iraqi government officials were not dealing with the phenomenon.

“As some countries are busy exporting terrorism and making false claims, terrorism has reared its ugly head again, attacking innocent and defenseless people” said Qassemi.

Voicing sympathy with the families of attacks’ victims, Qassemi called on the international community to spare no efforts towards removing the surge of terrorism.

The remarks were made after two people have been killed in a stabbing attack, claimed by Daesh, at a train station in the southern French city of Marseille.

The victims were two women, one of whom was fatally stabbed in stomach while the other had her throat slit by the assailant.

France is still on high alert as sporadic attacks happen across the country by Daesh operatives or people expressing loyalty to the terrorist group. Some 7,000 troops have been deployed in cities and towns as part of the Opération Sentinelle to guard high-risk areas such as transport hubs, tourist sites and religious buildings.

Earlier, in Edmonton, Canada, a police officer was first hit by a car and then stabbed by its driver near Commonwealth Stadium, and four pedestrians were injured by a truck driven by the fleeing assailant.

According to Edmonton Police Service Chief Rod Knecht, a Daesh flag had been seized from the vehicle used in the attack on the police officer.
